Would you split the groupset?...I would be interested in the chainset.

Yes I'd split it up but would rather sell in one go. If I split:

    Chainset - €125
    Shifters - €175
Cables, front & rear derailleurs, calipers, chain & cassette - €200

Offer asking for shifters fd and rd € 240

Hi. Will offer 450 including postage to Galway for everything. Paul

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 922 ✭✭✭Mr. Skeffington

@ ballydavid10: I will accept your offer if you cover the cost of registered post, alternatively the groupset can be collected from Dublin.

@ noc231073: If ballydavid10 does not go ahead as above than its a deal but items will need to be collected, no postage included.

@ PDV: If ballydavid10 does not go ahead as above than its a deal but items will need to be collected / postage cost covered.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I offered the asking price and thought if you do that the item was to be sold on that basis...Ballydavid did not offer asking price.
Maybe I'm wrong but it seems you are reneging on the deal.

Sorry PDV but I did say all along that my preference was to sell as a complete groupset. Ballydavid10 wants to take it in its entirety and is covering the postage. You did make an offer for the chainset but wanted me to cover the postage. I have accepted Ballydavid10's offer but if that does not happen and I dont sell the groupset as a complete unit I will let you know.

You may well have said that but you also said you would sell the chainset for €125...I offered that...you hadnt mentioned postage...and this is where I'm confused...Ballydavid didnt offer the asking for the entire set.I'm just looking for clarification...not trying to start a war...lol!!

Yes I also offered asking price .. You need to read the posting rules

I would have offered asking on the lot but PDV. Already offered asking on the chainset...
You are breaking the posting rules....
Which are strictly adhered to ...
The mods should be along soon to explain

Hi PDV, above you offered €125 for the chainset including postage, it would cost me €10.50 to post it and I would have to package it and get it to the post office so in reality I would only be getting €115 for it.

As already said my preference was to sell the entire groupset which I said all along, so im not sure what the norm is in this case, perhaps the mods can give guidance. I just want to do the right thing, but its getting a little too much hassle at this stage.

    Shifters - €175
Cables, front & rear derailleurs, calipers, chain & cassette - €200

    @noc231073,
I have read the rules in relation to selling items on here, I posted this up as a complete groupset. I was asked would I split up the groupset but said Id rather sell in one go, my post for clarity is above.

In the above post I re-iterated that I wanted to sell in one go and stated what my prices would be if I decided to split. An offer was made on the individual parts however since that an offer has been made on the complete groupset as per the original post.

    Perhaps the mods can advise.

    OK, I've had a look.

While I can understand how the confusion arose, I think that as soon as this post
Yes I'd split it up but would rather sell in one go. If I split:

    Chainset - €125
    Shifters - €175
Cables, front & rear derailleurs, calipers, chain & cassette - €200
was made new prices were in play for the 3 parts (with the all-in price still available). Hoiwever I also note the OP's clear desire to sell as a whole

However it's also clear that PDV's offer was inclusive of postage.

noc231073 you did not state whether postage was included in your offer, but based on your reference to PDV's offer I am taking it that your's was on the same basis (and in effect remained conditional on the OP agreeing to pick up postage). As an alternative you could have indicated you would pick up but did not do so.

Although the rules say nothing specific on who bears postage it would normally be on top of the listed price unless specified otherwise (as postage cots could vary depending on location or whether a pick-up is possible)

In the circumstances therefore I would rule that Mr. Skeffington was at liberty to accept ballydavid10's offer

Sorry for those disappointed with this decision, but it was a hard call to make in the specific circumstances.

If anyone wishes to discuss this further please PM me
