If I'm off work, I'd love to be there, your lap of Laois was an excellent event.

Thanks. Routes are fairly similar so its a nice chance for anyone who did the lap of laois to try the cut etc in temperatures above freezing (hopefully).

Saturdays can be a bit awkward for me but I'd love to take this in, never need an excuse to head up the Slieve Blooms.

Hope you get the whole way around this time Poolboy.:-D
On a serious note I hope you enjoy it and raise a good sum for two very worthy causes.

Hypothermia is no laughing matter rst.

Starting to look like hypothermia is not going to be an issue next week. Fingers crossed the long range forecast is right

Hope there's a big barrel of iced water up there too, if it's as warm tomorrow it'll be needed.

Looking forward to it though, it'll be some difference from the Lap of Laois.

Water will be there. Ice could be a problem I'm afraid.

Great day out, not sure why the turnout was a bit disappointing but it had nothing to do with the way the event was run, plenty of good grub, loads of water, good road markings and a lovely route with a little bit of something for everyone.

We had a lovely chain gang for the first half, made great progress as far as the food stop, and then the Headstrong express made good time home after the Cut till one of the lads started handing out tickets to the pain cave from the motorway junction to the finish.

Not sure I should have ate a big plate of chicken curry before the spin home but it was delicious.

    Well done to Watchtours CC.

Thanks nilhg for your comments won't deny we were disappointed with the turnout but I suppose this time of year people are spoiled for choice not to mention the attractions of beach etc during weather like this. Thanks to all who came hopefully ye enjoyed it. Glad everyone made it home safely and well done to those who's bike handling skills were tested to the full by the 2 horses on the descent of the cut!!

Drove up the cut today and saw all the WT markings and assumed they were there for Sunday!

Yeah have to say I really enjoyed this today, it was well organised and road marking and signage was great. Lovely hang sangitches there at the food stop and a really nice friendly day out, almost everyone doing turns at the front and a good pace from the start. Pity the numbers were low but probably most people were on beach days out with the families I suppose. Would totally recommend this sportive and will be back next year for it. Added on a bit extra to my 118k trip by belting into motorway roundabout at full tilt on run into portlaoise and doing a full lap round...misread the sinage and we were fairly flat out in the lead group at that stage!
Well done to watchtours cc ;-)
