    hey all,
i recently did a lot of work to my bike which included some second hand gold wheels, now im usually the type to just drive around with somthing dirty but since im off for the summer i decided i would get her clean, so first off i gave it a good wash with simoniz shampoo, spent time compounding the rest of the bike but ill come back to to that on another thread, the dirt on the wheels was extremelly thick, to the point that the local valeter could not shift them with a few powerwashes, so i rode them like that for a few months.

also bought simoniz wheel cleaner since it was on special and agitated tough spots with a new paintbrush after putting it on, worked very well around the engine and some chassis parts but the wheels no good, the week before i had actually cleaned off a lot of dirt with diesel and it was all that seemed to shift it. theres still small specs of what is probabaly tar left and they wont shift,

    any ideas??

heres the bike after the valeter wash, decided it needed a wash after all the work :P

here it is after the last wash, sure most of it looks spotless but theres still some black spots close up on the wheels i cannot shift, any ideas?

Could possibily be tar spots....although its more likely to be small particles of iron embedded in the surface. These come from hot particles from your brake discs.

I suggest you try a de-ironising product. Iron Cleanse is the best Ive used, but its not available in the likes of Halfords or your local motor factors!

the back wheel is always the dirtiest, theres a big messy chainwith oil flinging around the place, ill take some pictures later when i get a chance, it seems really just like the last of years worth of caked in grease.

Put your camera into macro mode and brake some pictures

Petrol mixed into a paste with soapflakes.
Leave it on for 30 mins or so and the tar should just wipe off.
