    Hi

I am looking to flash a new ROM onto a Samsung Galaxy Note.

I was going to go for CyanogenMod

Do I need to first root my Note?
    If so how?

And then whats the best way to install ?

I've used Odin previously on my Samsung Galaxy S.

    Thanks
    M

Guide to rooting is here. Then choose your rom from here. :)

I don't know which galaxy note you have but there is loads on information over on xda forums.

This link tells you how to root, or this link provides more info on how to perform the various steps.

I don't have a note myself, but have used the guides on xda to root and insall ROM's on a few devices. I'd advise you to have a read through it a few times to get to grips with the steps involved.

Happy rooting (not in the Australian way)!

Well now Im even more confused.

I flashed with Odin and used the file on this page
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191

    << 03.06.2013 - PhilZ-cwm6 v5.06.1 with CWM 6.0.3.2 based recovery >>
    DDLSC - DXLSE - JPLSB - XXLT6 - ZSLO2 Fixed for bootloop
ZCLSF (no bootloop fix, proper default.prop)
    http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=16061#files

Now my phone has the yellow triangle when I boot up but if I go into Titanium Backup it says I dont have root access.

If you open the Recovery Mode (turn on your phone holding down Vol Up + Power), does it say ClockworkMod Recovery at the top?

It sounds like the rooting process failed.

    Try this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360

    On that page it says
    Visit this thread
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1901191
And download kernel in zip format according ROM you are having on device.

I am looking at the "Build Number" on the "About Device" on my phone and it ends with N7000ZSL02

This is the one that I tried to flash ...
