Clarification on tuition fees

Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody can share their knowledge regarding the five year rule regarding the payment of full tuition fees if someone does a second undergraduate course.

A bit of info regards my situation; I left in the second semester of my third year into my four year Level 8 course back in March 2009. I wanted to come back a do a different Level 8 course (Arts in NUIM), so I did a level 5 pre-university course from Sept to May this year and was accepted into Maynooth, as a Mature student in March and I hope to start in September.

I was told by a work colleague who also works for SUSI that I do not have to pay the full tuition fees, but I thought I'd get a second opinion just to be sure.

I have two questions; the first is do I have to pay the full fees or can I avail of the Free Fees Initiative? The second is that if I have to pay full fees, do I need to pay them for the full duration of the course or if I pay for them in full for the first year and the five years have passed after that year do I just pay the Student Registration Charge.

    Thanks for your help. :)

I think you might have to pay full fees for years 1,2 and 3 because you dropped out in third year.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
