    Ask yourself some questions first:
    • How far away will the nearest cycling club be?
    • Is it going to be primarily a leisure or racing club?
    • Are there enough people within 5-10 miles that would be interested in joining?
    • Can you get adequate funding to get it off the ground?

Are you on your own setting it up or have you some friends interested in helping?
    1. Call a meeting to gather the interest in setting up a club.
    2. Elect a committee.
    3. Get affiliated with Cycling Ireland.
    4. Start promoting the club to new members.
    5. Fundraise and/or get sponsorship.
    6. Get club gear (with sponsors' names etc.).

Getting affiliated with Cycling Ireland would be a recommended thing to do, for insurance purposes mainly but also for easy "access" to Cycling Ireland promoted events. (discounts!)

    Hope that helps.

Do a search for "Reservoir Cogs" on this forum. A couple of guys set up a new leisure club in West Wicklow which appears to be doing very well, but they started off here by holding a "Should we bother our arse doing this" meeting. Maybe see if you can get in touch with them for a couple of pointers.
