Hi, Im on the jobseeker's benefits at the moment.
I had to go back to Spain something like once every month since March for medical reasons at the hospital for a 6-7 days each time and it looks like I will still have to go back again in July,August and september, and maybe more...
    the question is :
Is anybody knows if i can "postpone" the payment as it looks I will obviously be away from Ireland the day I'm supposed to go to the post office collect the jobseeker's benefits?
I have all the forms from the hospital showing my appointments but I don't know if the Social office will take this in consideration?
    Thank you

You are entitled to 12 days of unavailability in each calendar year after that you would not be paid for anything additional. Also the conditions of the claim are that you are available, fit and actively looking for work at all times throughout the claim. The medical grounds would not be taken into consideration. Maybe illness benefit would be the best option.

    thank you for the answer.
Illness benefit is not an option at the moment as despite the fact I have to to the hospital,I'm still able to work.Just it's really not convenient to go and go back every few weeks.I will have to manage with the 12 days of unavailability.
