Available here. Should be fine for Saorview as it has DVB-T (HD).

Nice, ibood seem to have got better offers as of late.

How long is the TV itself available for? Anyone ordered with them before?

All iBood offers last for 24 hours at most, or a few hours depending on the offer.

Lame. Don't have the cash for it at such short notice! Oh well.

Was in the market for a tv for my room, nothing too expensive however would this be a good enough deal to push the boat out a little?

    Is it a smart tv?

Also I read some reviews saying it actually doesn't have built in wifi however the description states it does, does anyone know if it actually does?

Looks like 5300 doesn't have built in wifi. See second Q&A

I've returned the last few items I purchased from ibood. Nearly everything they sell are factory seconds or reconditioned returns. That's why everything is so cheap. I wouldn't go near them anymore.

Well, I have to say that is most definitely misleading by iBood again....

    They say, very coyly:
Apart from its up-to-date equipment as a full HD LED TV it has all the necessary connectivity options such as HDMI, USB and WiFi. The television is very durable due to its low energy consumption. With the Samsung 32F5300 you will enjoy all the advantages of a mature smart TV, which you can connect via your Wi-Fi.

    http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/led-tv/UE32F5300AKXXU
    Wireless LAN Adapter Support

    http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/led-tv/UE32F5300AKXXU-spec
    WiFi Direct available

    But, as mentioned above:

What is the difference between this 32" F5300 TV and the 32" F5500?

Ben N London 1 month, 2 weeks ago

I looked at the tech specs and the only differences I can see is that the F5300 says: "DVI Audio In (Mini Jack) x 0ea" (but I'm wondering if "x 0ea" means actually there isn't a DVI Audio In Mini Jack anyway?), and the F5500 says: "Swivel (Left / Right) available" and the stand weight is slightly more.
So is the only difference the swivel stand?

    Answers

    Hi Ben,

The big difference between these 2 models is that the F5500 has got a wireless internet adaptor built in and the F5300 does not. There does not seem to be DVI audio input on these TV's.

    Thanks.

    Hmmmmmmm......

Nothing wrong with the ibood advertising imho, you just need to add £20 to the price if you want the tv wifi enabled

Has anyone else had any issues with iBood items being seconds or refurbished? How would you know?

I bough some Argosy HDD media players from iBood a few years ago and was quite happy with them.

The last 2 items i bought were an air conditioning fan and a samsung 32" LED tv.
These were on 2 seperate occasions months apart. The fan was DOA out of the box. The TV has light leak issues around the bezel on the screen. Both were in taped up boxes with fingerprints all over them and the internal packaging ripped apart.
I would not be going near ibood again. Took AGES to sort out a refund!

Can't agree. Sorry. If you say something has Wifi and it doesn't its misleading.

The description says Connectors: WIFi, and it also says optional Wi-Fi. Which is contradictory.

I kept the tv as i had contacts who could replace the screen for free. The large fan i sent back though. Cost me €66 to ship it. Took a good few emails to convince them to refund the shipping costs.

Does the ibood ad state that?

Does it have a European plug? Did it work with Saorview?

you are right, it is cheap to upgrade, but the info given does give the impression that the TV is already wi-fi enabled, without need for an additional wi-fi dongle...

I have no issue with the price, or the telly, it's good value OK.

The description should include the information you have given, IMO.

I just ordered one from iBood.
iBood responded by emailing that there is an issue with description (wifi enabled but no wifi).
They offered to cancel the order. Here is the snap from email
    Dear iBOOD'er,

Today you have bought a 32 inch FullHD Samsung Smart TV(s), for which our thanks.

Unfortunately, there has been a confusion about the offer today. The text specified that the television would have built-in Wi-Fi but the specifications stated Wi-fi optional. The television does not have built-in Wi-Fi. This television supports WIFI through a WIFI USB dongle, this dongle is not supplied by iBOOD.

    • Brand: Samsung
    • Type: UE32F5300WXXH
    • Full HD TV
To see the full specifications you could refer to the offer online: http://www.ibood.com/ie/en/

If the television does not have the required specifications, you have the option to cancel your order free of charge. Please refer to 'My iBOOD "Account Section> My Orders> see order number for a service request. In your account, you have the ability to directly enter your account details and the full purchase amount will be refunded in 5 to 10 days to your bank account.

We apologize for this inconvenience. Nevertheless, we hope to have informed you to your satisfaction.

    Sincerely,

    iBOOD Customer Service

Looks like a genuine mistake from them. I won't cancel the order but nice to know that I have an option.

I emailed iBood to ask were the TVs new or refurbished. The response:

We can confirm that the tv's and products we sell are new, unless the product offer says: ''refurbished''.

Does this have an inbuilt saorview tuner....?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,487 ✭✭✭Mountjoy Mugger

Did you read my first post?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 676 ✭✭✭epopnomis

Yeah I did. I was under the impression that some of the tvs still needed a saorview box to pick up the signal. Bonus if this doesn't need it.

That was a reasonable response to my question on the Product forum , but they didn't answer it there....

Even Tesco/Superquinn/Centra etc- do compatible adaptor plugs these days. Not an issue.

Ordered a 37" TV 4 years ago still going strong and it worked on Saorview when it was introduced which was a bonus.

Only issue I had was that the couriers delivered the TV to someone else that had ordered 2 in the same town. They didn't realise one of them had a different name and address. Took me a week of calling before the other guy answered the door!

So is it worth making this tv wifi enabled? Where would one buy a dongle at the best price?

You can buy a genuine Samsung dongle on ebay for about 30 quid- I have one for my Samsung Bluray player.
