Keyboard has stopped working

I have a problem where my USB Qpad keyboard is no longer detected. After bootup it displays a msg saying no keyboard detected so I cant even get into the BIOS.
The only other USB connected device is a mouse and its working fine. I've tried connecting the keyboard to every other USB port but I still get the same result.

This problem first started to appear yesterday after I quit playing a game when I noticed that the keyboard wasnt working. Swapping it to another USB port fixed it. It happened twice more yesterday and each time I could fix it by swapping to another USB port.

Today, again after quiting a game, the keyboard wasnt working. However, swapping it to another USB did not fix the problem this time. A reboot didnt solve it either and like I said above I get a 'keyboard not detected' straight after bootup.

I was using a controller each time that was connected to a USB port on the actual keyboard itself.

Unfortunately I've no other PC to test the keyboard here but I can bring it to work tomorrow and try it in the office.
Is it common for keyboards to start failing like this and then just give up the ghost?

FWIW, I did change motherboard last weekend and I've had no problems all week.

Any other tests I can do in the meantime in order to rule out a bios/software issue?
