I have a full head of hair atm thankfully. The reason I started this thread was to see if it has affected men's confidence when it come to the opposite sex and how women view bald men.

I know a good few people that are bald and I don't really think about it, and I think nobody else does either. It actually suits some people.

Yes, it's hereditary but from your maternal side. Women tend not to go bald because the genes for baldness need higher levels of testosterone to be expressed. That's why people say bald men are full if virility - it implies high levels of testosterone. :)

Probably feels weird when it rains and like a child you have to wear a cap in the sunshine presumably.

It's not like hair just stops growing all over your head, You can end up being essentially bald on top but with shaggy growth on the sides. Grow it out long enough, and you can do a comb over.

This guy shows you how it's done:

This one's in Japanese, but the pictures tell the story:

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Both myths are wrong. It can be inherited from your father as well, not surprisingly. Also, bald men generally don't have more testosterone, they just have hair follicles that that allow more "super" testosterone through to the hair which damages it. That's how the drug propicia works. It turns "super" testosterone into normal testosterone which isn't as damaging to hair.

"super" testosterone isn't the technical name for the testosterone, but you can google it.

    Google Leon Maliniak Method.

If you believe his claims men have been regrowing hair by massaging the Galea around the back and sides of the head.

As te theory goes, tight galea restricts blood flow allowing DHT to bulb up in the scalp and kill off hair follicles.

I'm a girl with a full head of hair and I have to wear a hat in the sun, otherwise I get burnt along my parting or any little bit of scalp that is exposed! :(

It's not just baldies that need to be careful in the sun.

The rule of thumb is, you inherit your mothers fathers hair.

My mothers father always had thin hair. My father always had thin greasy hair. My brother went bald in his mid twenties.

Me, I have thick long locks that I got from my mother. I am forty two and I have the hair of a teenager, I have the best hair out of all my family. However, I am the only fat b@stard in the family too.

So maybe moro bars and garlic cheese chip is the answer to all your hair loss worries.

The only person who cares if you're bald is you. Friends and family may tease you, but the general pubic will only notice if you have a combover or are otherwise trying to hide it.

I was well on my way at 19 and it really got to me at that age. Now at 31, I don't even think about it. I've been shaving my head for years.
