they are done with the pour on thing (clonmectin) or something i think, and that is all since they came in as calves, when outwintered, housed, and twice since out this year, they ar also tb tested. Is this enough?

first time cattle has been on the farm in 20 years, since my dad had them. also when can you lads tell me when i could expect to put them in calf (sorry for the stupid newbie questions but i honestly dont know) and to what Ai bull? they were born March/April 2012 and are herefords and angus out of dairy herd.
    Thanks

hold them till they are over 400kg, probably round the end of the year if they got any sort of a half decent do.After that its a waiting game until the optimum time that suits your calving, whether you bull them nov for autumn or next april for spring.
I wont make any presumptions on the coughing but they shouldnt really be coughing this time of year with the dosing and all, someone else might be able to help you better

Coughing in animals is usually 1 of 3 things

    1 pneumonia -
    2 lung worms
    3 ibr

Vet call should set u straight

How were your cattle after moving to the new pasture?

I have about 5 bullocks coughing quite badly at the moment .. the strange thing is ....another farmer (miles away) also has the same issue- seperate farm. About 10% of mine seem to be coughing quit badly at the moment. Just in the last 2 weeks ...anyone else experienced something similar???

Ya have yearling bulls and heifers at grass that were coughing, gave some of them cheapie ivomec and the ones that I thought were really bad got 40ml Levacide. I was afraid of losing them if they all got the ivermectin.

I reckon it was hoose bordering on pnumonia. Heifers are all ok now, bulls still coughing but i think it's just the meal. What are the symptoms of IBR is it just a snotty nose and watery eyes.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

This year is unreal for parasites. belt and braces approach from here on in. Dosing every 5 weeks and animals start coughing after being done 4 weeks again. Constantly switching products but to no avail. Got a reminder today that fluke is still about:eek:

I think IBR is more of throat cough than a deep lung one, like pneumonia is. Snotty noses, big time.

Thought it was just us as well!

Finding that stock are needing treatment every six weeks or so, another week and you think they were on 40 Major's a day :(

Switching products as well and we shall see how things go.

A shot of Resflor should help with some of the bad coughing

Dosing and moving to fresh grazing should help especially is its after cut - very low worm burden. if animals are dosed and sent back to the same pasture with get re infected and a few weeks later there coughing again.

i always taught to dose with pour on every 4 - 6 weeks during the summer and it stops alot of the little problems

Had 18 month heifers coughing this year as well as calves so got vet to test for ibr and some of the heifers were positive so just vaccinated all cattle this week. None were sick just coughing and had been dosed already for worms.
