I was in Spain recently and hired a car in the compact class. I was expecting something like a Golf but I got a FIAT 500L which I had never heard of before. This is a snap I took.

It had a 1.3 diesel engine and I had problems getting it out of underground car parks without it stalling. It was quite big inside but I think the engine was too small. Anyone else driven one?

Are you used to driving diesels? They always stall easier than petrols especially when youre not used to them

My daily drive is a Subaru Impreza 2 litre diesel and I have no stalling problems.

Might have been the start/stop technology ?

Had one for a few days and took a good like to get us to it.

A 1.3 diesel in such a small car 'should' make it a rocket !

I can understand what you mean about the stalling, driving a car with that engine at the moment and it can come close to stalling a lot. Can be a bit annoying in stop start traffic.

    One fugly car that 500L.
