Buying a used sky+ hd box

I'm looking to upgrade my box in the downstairs room to a hd box and €249 is far too steep from sky. There's a few being sold of adverts.ie for around €50 and I'm just looking for any info on possible problems I could run into. Now its not my first rodeo, so ill obviously be meeting the person in their house, so the box can be plugged in and connected to the tv to make sure it's working, but will there be any issue simply bringing it home, and putting my viewing card in using it?

I know when they are first installed the engineers plug it into the phone and do a call back to register the box, will my viewing card and box need to the paired or anything?

    Cheers,

You do have to pair the card with the box.
Sky are looking for 249Euro for the box?
Im presuming you don't currently have the HD package so?
i bought the 2TB box for 79euro from them two weeks ago to replace my bog standard multi room box.
if your with them over a year tell them UPC have been on to you and are offering an attractive package.

I have the HD package, have one hd box and one standard +box. I was talking to them on Tuesday as I had a promo code for free broadband for 6 months and half price sports and movies for 12 months, after I'd done that I asked her about sorting a new box,she said that €249 was the best price as box discounts are tied to the spend on your account. They wanted €399 for the 2tb! And that was discounted!
