Rent allowance form

I have questions in relation to my rent allowance form.

Part 8 asks who else you share the house with? It asks very personal questions like the other tenants income and pps numbers. I haven't discussed this with them because I don't even know them and it's an invasion of privacy to be honest.

And also, I heard there were increases in rent supplement in the past week. Can anyone confirm this, I'm in shared accommodation in Dublin city?

    Thanks

I can't help you with Part 8 of the form, except to say it's a standard question they ask.
As far as the rent supplement being increased, it has actually been reduced.

So am I expected to ask my housemates, whom I barely know, how much they earn per annum and for their pps numbers? That sounds ridiculous.

If you don't answer , you are very likely to be refused for failure to complete form.

Depending on where you live, a lot of people wouldn't say Rent Allowance was high.

When I was receiving it, it was reduced every year, which made it extremely difficult to get my rent reduced, in accordance with the new limits.

I had a very good Landlord who reduced it a few times, but I wouldn't expect him to drop it at today's rates-luckily I am not on RA anymore, but if I was, I'd be expecting my Landlord to reduce it to €450.

His rent was originally €900 when I first moved in, and he had dropped it over the years because we were good tenants. The final drop was to €600, so you can see how generous he was.

There'd be no way he'd reduce it to the new limit now and I wouldn't blame him.
It's extremely hard to find properties within the new limits, IMO.
