Etihad Airways will deploy a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on its highly successful Dublin-Abu Dhabi route from this Sunday, June 30.

The aircraft can carry 412 passengers and increases Etihad Airways’ capacity on the route by 34%. The decision to deploy the Boeing 777-300ER on the Dublin-Abu Dhabi route show the importance of the service, which celebrated its one millionth passenger earlier this year, within Etihad's overall route network.

great. It'll be nice to see another 777 regularly into Dublin.

Presumably this will be on the morning departure (daily excl Tues) and the evening flight (Mo, Tu, Fr, Sa) will remain an A330?

Presume they are using 3+4+3 seating similar to Emirates.

If so it will not be as comfortable as the A330.

A few months ago, they said that 6 flights a week will use the 77W and and the other will remain an A330. There are 6 morning flights a week so yeah, I presume they will be used for morning flights and stick with the A330 on evening flights.

They used to be 3-3-3 but I think they changed them all to 10 abreast a few years ago :(

I don't fancy this at all. Would prefer the A330. I have been panning to look further afield than Etihad for my next trip anyway. EY Gold will have expired, but still have VA/DJ Gold.

    Yep spot on. 6 B773 weekly and 4 A332.

Lovely aircraft, but 31" pitch 10 abreast is too much.
At least Emirates have 34" pitch, and that feels pretty tight.

Just wondering, How has this 777 become available? Is it a new plane or has it been taken off another route?

Well most big airlines are taking delivery of various aircraft.... so may well be due to an increase in B777 fleet size.

Maybe swapping the 773 for the A332 and putting it on a route needing less capacity

That would be the most obvious to swap the aircraft around. Being a successful first flight With nearly full flights on the morning route I wouldn't be surprised if in a few weeks they trial an evening run with the 777.

They're receiving a new 777 every month in line with their expansion :)

The word is from a source close to Emirates is that influence from Ethihad in relation to Terminal 2 has put a stop to the Emirates planned expansion to two flights a day.

If true it seems a bit underhand, I had heard that EK were hoping to get lounge space in DUB.

What do you mean by influence from EY in relation to T2?

I'm sorry, I truly don't know much about this.

That is what I was wondering. I don't know whether it is through the Aer Lingus stake or whether they had outright investment for the building of the terminal but from what I am told, at a decision making level, Emirates have been stopped or at least hit a major hurdle in their plan to increase the Dubai service.

Could be BS rolling through the company but it is coming from a horses mouth anyway :P
