Regaine extra strength

Hey.I'm 26 years old.Ive been using regaine extra strength for about a year and a half now and am thinking of quitting it or changing what Im doing at the moment as I believe Ive hit a wall with progress. When I first started using it, I bought Nizoral shampoo and after about 5 months I had noticed a slight better improvement using the two..

As time and use went on results didnt improve and it seemed to get worse.I noticed way more hairs falling out again.I researched webpages and opinions of users who stated that Regaine results can only be temporary...

I have become very frustrated as of late..both in confidence and outlook on things, spending so much money on a product that has an excuse that "its not for everybody"..and also "results can sometimes only be temporary"...It must be very nice to sell a product being able to tell people if it doesn't work,**** it..stop using it..Not to have a long moan but I just feel that a lot of people going bald can get fed up with so many news articles/products/fantasy crap saying that they have the cure and promising results that never match. Its very easy to exploit hope in life.

I am wondering If I am to make one more go and prolonging baldness...what steps one would take within best product combination..appreciate any advice eveyone.

OP - I have given you your own thread as per our charter we ask posters not to drag up old threads (you had posted to a 2006 thread I think).

However, we are not permitted to offer medical advice. If that is all you are looking for we will go ahead and close this thread, if however you want to get advice on how to deal with thinning hair then we will leave the thread open for a while.

    Please advise?

To be honest I think you need to work on your self confidence and being less self conscious about the way you look. It's just a fact of life that some men go bald earlier in life then others, there is no cure to baldness!

You would be better off accepting that now, crop or shave your head down and be done with it then spending your time, money and worry trying to combat what is inevitably going to happen. I'm no doctor but there must be health implications to these chemicals that end up being absorbed by the skin which can't be good long term.

I can sympathise with you. It is the death of an identity one has had since childhood and can be seen as a degradation in overall aesthetic appeal (which I believe it is) and there are no warnings, it just starts happening.

The regaine is a long-shot with the possibility that it will strengthen and retain hair moreso than grow new hairs (I can attest to that) but I am on it a similar period and I am still losing hair so I'm as annoyed as you.

As many will tell you it is a case of coming to terms with it but that is often not straightforward. I have seen myself and a friend who were both quite bubbly and confident in our youth have our personalities altered by the effects of balding young (neither of us are completely bald but it does place things in perspective). It will be difficult to tell yourself it's fine and just shave your head you'll be grand but imo something like this - if you are predisposed to being affected psychologically by it - will take time, time and more time.

You could speak to someone professionally and speed the process of acceptance up quite possibly, but saving that you will have to completely shed (sorry :() your old identity, that old image of you. The more you hold onto that the greater the cognitive dissonance and resulting pain.

    Best of luck.

Regaine is rubbish, and yes there are no outright cures for baldness yet, just a lot of bandaids that do or don't work

There are other methods, apparently some are having success covering the bald spot at the top back of head

As for receeding from the front, well that's the tough one

Realistically, you can accept that it's going to happen, crop your hair short or shave your head

Alternatively, if it's going to bother you, you can take a trip to Czech, Poland or elsewhere and get hair replacement, it's cheap in those countries (a few thousand I think) and worth it if it means that much to you. Yes family and friends, colleagues and so on will notice, but if yuo are open about it and can take some mild slagging then it's up to you

There are other products you can try, but again its very hit and miss and will often require a lot of daily attention, spending loads and get very mixed results.

My partner spent I don't know how much on some Regain and said that it did nothing at all.

I know that this probably isn't what you want to hear OP, but you will probably just have to live with your thinning hair. If you try to comb it over or grow it long, or use thickening sprays, you will only make it more obvious. Honestly the only thing that will make a difference long term is to accept it and own it.

Most of the men in my family started balding in their late teens. Some just leave it, others shave their heads entirely, but accepting that it's gone and getting on with it displays confidence which people will pick up on, and to be honest, you're probably the only person who really notices.

I'll admin that hair loss isn't something I have had to worry about, but this topic reminds me about something posted on Reddit.

It suggested that the best way to figure out if some "wonder cure" (e.g. hair loss prevention, guaranteed weight loss, etc) was possible, would be to see what rich people are doing. If something that prevented hair loss existed, no matter how outrageously expensive it was, then you would never see a bald billionaire.

There are things out there in development but they are still years away - Replicel and Histogen. The only way at the minute to resolve this is a hair transplant. However, what most people don't tell you about transplants is that you need to take finasteride/propecia in order to maintain the remainder of your hair. A transplant will only fill in whatever gaps you have - the remainder will still recede as normal so you need to take this drug to maintain it or get more transplants over time.

Some people suit the bald look, others like myself do not. Plenty of billionaires, builders and managers and everyone in between have had transplants. Don't kid yourself it is only for the rich and famous.
