    Folks,
I got a text from halpenny Golf inviting me to a loyalty night offer whereby all stock is at staff prices.
Can anyone tell me what the staff discount is for halpenny golf?
    Thanks.....

I remember I used to be plagued with those texts and I went one night and it wasn't great to be honest, not what I would call staff prices either however I might just have got a bad night.

That's my fear too. I have my eye on a hybrid I want, but do not want to waste my time going over to halpenny's and finding I could still get it cheaper online!!

Ring them and ask how much it's going to be at the Loyalty night.

A lot of it depends who you get and how busy they are on the night. Have had some great deals so no harm going and see how good a deal you can get on the night. Have the online price with you and i'd say they will match it at worst.

They wont tell you over the phone, tried that. They tell you it varies and depends on what your buying, tell them what your buying and they spin another yarn.

They want you in the shop.

You can get decent discounts, clothes and shoes are normally the biggest discounts, clubs are normally around 10-20%.

It's not staff discount as they say, its just a reduction. But you can do the haggle aswell.

I got my Cleveland wedges for €140. They were advertised at €129 each, and when I checked McGuirks the best price they could do was €200. Granted the price on them came down to €75-79 a few days later, and I was probably fed some bull****, it was still a big saving on the marked price.

They are regular events, they happen once a month. So its worth going to if you have something in mind you want. So if you see something you want, hang on until the loyalty night to get it. Thats what I did with the wedges anyway.

Does anyone know if they will giive you the extra discount if they havnt got club in stock and would have to order it?

Generally I find they just give 15% off most items' marked price, which is pretty much what I'd expect to be taken off anyway on a normal day with the slightest bit of haggling.

Went in last night and tried to buy 3 vokeys.
Best they would do is 100 each and thats because I was a loyalty member, going to give my pro the chance to match/beat it and give him the cash if he is within 10% (he might even be better!)

The guy in the shop said the cant do much on hardware, clothes/shoes etc they have much more leeway.

    Wasnt that impressed tbh.

Yeah it feels like they have too many loyalty nights.
Maybe if they had one every three months and could offer better discount it would work better

GreeBo I use to work in McGuirks and can confirm that.. clubs/balls tend to have very little mark up (sometimes nothing) unless they have special offers from suppliers.. Money is made on the clothes/bags/shoes/wet gear and all the accessories..

Granted, but they advertise it like its some special sale when its not really.
I'd expect to get 10% off the marked price if I was spending €300 on a normal day, I know I would in McGuirks for example.

Its the first one that I have gone to and no sure I would bother again tbh.

I only differ in the fact that, rather than having no interest, I actually dislike the brand a bit more each time I get a text (I'll opt out one of these days :o )

Stop the bullsh*t, it's a sale, not some special "staff discount loyalty night"
