Anyone know where i might be able to get two wardrope doors? Not sure if Woodies, B&Q or Ikea sell these on their own?

I could make them but would rather buy them because i feel it will give it a better finish then a sheet of plywood cut in two with a handles.

    Ikea have a good selection.

Solid wood to gloss foil finish.

Or "In House"...(aka The Paneling Centre).

Go to trade counter and you will get a good deal.

I thought of Ikea just not sure if they sell the doors separately?

    They do indeed.

They have all the doors on display upstairs where the wardrobe section is.

Take down the product number, and warehouse location number.

Then go downstairs and go to the warehouse location and take the door away to checkout.

    Simples.:)

The Paneling Centre is just down the road from Ikea.

Ikea is in Balymun and The Paneling Centre is 2 minutes down the road in Santry

If you mention the word "Ikea" to the chap on the trade counter in The Paneling Centre, then you might get the wardrobe doors at trade price or close to it.

Allways worth a try and more money in your wallet is good for you...;):)

Also if its just for a box room or something check out adverts, last one I built I got the doors there for €15, turned out perfect.

Also if your considering building carcasses it's probably cheaper to buy the ikea ones, hard to buy the wood in the builder providers for what they charge.

It's for an alcove in bedroom. I usually get wood in woodies and never had a problem before.

I never thought of checking on adverts either.

Yeah, adverts.ie is allways good for stuff like this.:)

I sold 4 large wardrobe doors with hinges, handles and internal mirrors for not alot of money on adverts before.

They were in absolutely perfect condition too.

Couple from Meath were delighted with them too...:D

Woodies will cost you an arm and a leg. If you need conti board go into goodwins, they've just expanded thier show room in mulhudard...

How wide is the alcove? Ikea wardrobes are 1m wide, you can also get 50cm units too. I build an ikea one into an alcove last year. Turned out perfect. Also ikea do all the internal accessories...

I looked at doing that and at wardropes in Ikea but they wouldn't fit flush which is what i would want. When you built your wardrope did you fix it to the sides of the alcove?

Measurements are ruffley, Height =548cm Width =100cm Depth=48cm

Your width is bang on for an idea wardrobe, but your depth is out, they are about 58cm deep. So just trim 10cm off the back with the circular saw. Do you mean 248 for the height? or maybe you live in a castle :)

Yea i fitted it flush into the alcove, as it had the depth. On the RHS I screwed some 2x1 painted white to the wall and attached the wardrobe to this. on the LHS i just fitted a small piece of conti board as a spacer. They are a very big wardrobe, loads of space in them. I think the wardrobe frame comes in @ €50 or so, last time i bought 8' x 2' lengths of conti board they were €15 each, and it would take at least 3 for a basic wardrobe chassis.

Of course if you want cheap and cheerful and the alcove is exactly 100cm's wide, you could just make a frame with 2x1 down either side and some conti board across the top/bottom and screw it into the front of the alcove, then stick two of the ikea doors on it.

That looks great. It fits very well and looks nice with those doors and handles. I think the depth might be a bit more. I didn't measure that part correctly. I only went as far as the frame currently on it and to the edge so i would say it's over 50cm but still not close to 58cm.

The height is 8ft =248cm. That was a typo, no castle :). I like the idea of getting a wardrope in Ikea and fitting it in the alcove just like you did. If i can get a wardrobe with the height and width it will fit nicely. I would trim the back as you say for the depth.

I just didn't want a gap down one side as i wasn't sure if could fill this gap that easy but with some conti board i could and screw it together from inside the wardrobe itself.

    something similar to this http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/products/S79894596/

Yea that's the job, just go for the more expensive doors that they offer and it would look great.

Check your width is ok, you might need to knock a little plaster off if you need clearance. Also check for head room, you want room to stand the wardrobe up, although you could possibly build it up right with some help.

The doors you got in Ikea, did they have the size you were looking for or did you have to cut them to fit?

The ikea doors were for an ikea wardrobe, so fitted perfect. I needed two 45cm doors for a wardrobe I built in a box room, got these from adverts, again worked out perfect.

I wouldn't attempt to try cut a door down to size, usually goes badly wrong.
