Aerlingus Manage Booking

I've booked flights to Spain and will travel in 2 weeks time. I got a travel advisory from AL and went on to online checkin, i did the advance passenger info for Spain, no probs and all ok so far.

Now when I went to check in online I was given two options 30hrs- 2hrs or 30 days-30hrs, selected the latter which brought me to a layout of the plane and seat selection. It appears that to advance book a seat they are charging anything from €5 to €20 per seat. Ok if you want to pay but because there's 6 of us this will cost additional €60 return minimum on top of the cost. It won't let me check in in advance unless I purchase seats.

So my question is when do the seats that I purchased at the time of booking come available to me. Is this at the 30hr stage and I run the gauntlet of not getting seats beside each other.

Seem like their scamming additional monies frighting people into "oh we better buy seats or some wirdo will be beside me" for the duration of the flight.

Yes, beginning 30 hours before the flight you can select seats for free.

    Agreed, it's called pressure selling.

Hey thanks for that. Do you know if its just a percentage of the seats they offer up for advanced checkin or is this based on demand.

I would assume they would have to keep back a certain number of seats for families with you kids etc. although I have witnessed cabin crew asking passengers/swapping people around to accommodate young children.

Same for us, we're travelling early next Thursday morning so I've set the alarm clock to wake me in the wee hours of Wednesday morning (30 hours in advance) to check in and grab those seats ;)

I often travel Aer Lingus and normal check in at the self service machines at the airport. Never once have I ever not being sitting next to the people I am traveling with.

Also if you are traveling with kids and you are not sitting together if you ask at the gate they will move people around so you are sitting together.

it's not a problem to check in within last 30 hours. There's always plenty of seats together, unless there's 6 of you and you want all to sit in one row or 2 rows specifically.
