I have tickets to the Steelers / Vikings game at the end of September. Anyone else on here making the hop over to London?

Anyone go to the game last year? If so, what is the setup? How early should you go down to the game, tailgating etc and is it all advertised as the full day ? Do you have to buy additional tickets for tailgating etc?
I know i'm well ahead of myself

    Thanks in advance

Yes, I went last year and my boys the Pats put on a good show against the Rams. Not planning on going to London, because I was hoping to try an organise a trip to Foxboro for a Pats game.

Down to yourself really and what you want. I went down at about 2.00pm last year and the place was wedged. Team gear for sale can be a bit steep. And if you're not early enough then you could be waiting 5 years in a queue to get to the till.

No, show your game tickets and you get in. I think the tailgate starts at around 11.30am, but I may be wrong. Just remember everything is pricey and whatever you do, don't buy food in the stadium during the game. Because you will not believe how expensive it is. The food stalls around the tailgate are better value and have some lovely stuff. Just keep an eye on the queues.

Going to the vikings game with 2 friends, got the flights booked and hostel for Saturday and Sunday night.

Am i right in saying there will be a fan rally in some square on the Saturday?

Looking forward to it now i must say. Hopefully it will be a close high scoring game

Yes the fan rally is usually in Trafalgar Square, with stage, stalls and music. Players and coaches and most important of all the cheerleaders will all make an appearance there.

Going to the Steelers game, have a ticket but probably wont go to the Jags game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Would love to go to either game, but couldn't get tickets at the time.

Waiting for tickets to come back, and will prob go to the 49ers/Jags. Should have the following week off, so makes it easier (and cheaper to travel back, instead of rushing for the late flight on Sunday night.).

Hopefully. I'll have to drag the missus along with me as I know very few NFL fans IRL

    Great info! Thanks

Just wanna make sure I get the most out of the weekend and not just 'rolling up for kick off' as the missus suggested

Going to both. 9ers game cause I'm a fan and Viks/Steelers game because of the novelty of an actually competitive game in London.

Thanks to Helimachoptor i'll be going to the Jags/49ers game. :P

Maybe we could have a boards meetup beforehand, or would that be awkward?

Would be interested in Vikings-Steelers but just checked Wembley website there and saw this TICKETS PRICES: £329 - £799. That's before flights + accommodation.
It'll be a while before I've that much money to spend on a game.

Guessing they were a lot cheaper when they came out, if anyone has 2 going or knows where I can get 2 let me know :)

You should get them 2-6 weeks from the game date.

What time would you suggest going to the tailgate at. The game starts at 6pm you wouldn't want to be standing around outside the stadium all day or its there plenty of entertainment outside

If you really want to enjoy the tailgate experience, the earlier the better I'd say. The advantage of that is you will also beat a lot of the queues for merchandise(but it's pricey). There is enough going on a the tailgate to keep you busy. They'll have a mock NFL field set up, where they'll run some compettions with fans which are good craic, team cheerleaders perform, former players ect. Neil Reynolds from the Sky NFL team will be MC, a sound man. There's a big beer tent with benches and chairs ect. Plenty of foodstalls with some good stuff (Don't buy food inside the actual stadium)

It's hard to say what time to go there though. Maybe get there no later in 2. And don't forget to factor in travel time to the stadium. The good thing about the Vikings game is it's in September, London is still usually warm enough then. But the game at the end of October can really skin you if you haven't got winter gear. Bear in mind that rain could be an issue so prepare for that just in case.

Here's a couple of You Tube clips to give you an idea of what it's like. The first clip is pretty close to kick off so it's well full crowd wise.

This clip has got some fan rally highlights from Trafalgar Square, tailgate and game highlights.

You had me at beer tent!

Sounds like they have a good set up alright. Thanks for the info it will be a day well spent so.

I would really love to try and get to London for one of the games this autumn. I read a few posts back that tickets would go on sale again. But does anyone know what kind of price range they might be?

Anybody know what the story is with the fan rally this year?! I'll be travelling over with a couple of friends on the Saturday morning but as a Clare man I need to be in a suitable pub to watch the hurling 5pm.

Going to the 49ers game, been a fan since 86. This will be my 2nd London game, the first being 2010 and the 49ers hosting the Broncos. Jags will be hammered I think come week 8.

      NFL TAILGATE

To mark this ground-breaking season for the NFL in the UK, even those without game tickets are invited to come along to Tailgate at Wembley to sample the excitement before the Minnesota Vikings' game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 29.

Rather than the traditional Tailgate for this game, NFL Game Day Fan Plaza will be open to ticket holders and non-ticket holders alike, offering a free-flowing environment where you can visit NFL exhibits, catch performance from the Vikings Cheerleaders and SKOL Drumline, enjoy food and drink from an increased number of American- outlets, purchase merchandise and meet fellow fans.
NFL Game Day Plaza offers the ideal opportunity to bring along some friends who have yet to experience the atmosphere of an NFL game in London.

      NFL AT REGENT STREET

The NFL will turn London's Regent Street into a traffic-free American football block party on Saturday September 28 to mark the start of a ground-breaking month in which two International Series games will be played at Wembley Stadium.
NFL on Regent Street is a free event that will run from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m., offering shoppers and NFL fans the chance to experience the sights and sounds of the sport.
Come along and enjoy performances by the Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders and 'Skol' drumline, get your photo taken with Vince Lombardi Trophy, appearances from NFL Alumni and tuck in to some tasty American food.
For NFC fans, the highlight of the day will be the players and coaches from the Steelers and Vikings. They will be taking time out of their preparation for the next day's crucial regular-season showdown to celebrate with the fans on Regent Street, following the tradition set by the likes of Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, Rob Gronkowski and Sam Bradford at the NFL's annual Fan Rally at Trafalgar Square in

Ceist, What are the facilities inside the tailgate and the stadium for ATMs or is it cash only everywhere. Got waxed one time in Croker and swore i'd never be stung again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 640 ✭✭✭DBIreland

To be honest I can't remember seeing an ATM at the tailgate or at the stadium.

At the Patriots v Tampa about 4/5 years ago they were accepting credit cards but only VISA as they were the official partner. Lucky for us the wife had one.

I can't remember if this applied last year, sorry.
