    Hi All,

Just looking for peoples opinions; is 400 euro for the following work a bit expensive?

    - Service
    - Replace Crank Shaft Sensor (mechanic quoted 120 euro for part)
    - Replace RHS Ball Joint (mechanic quoted 80 euro for part)
    - Replace dip bulb and adjust lights height

Doing a quick look on the net it would appear the crank shaft sensor is in the region of 50 - 60 euro!

    Thanks.

mechanic might be buying it from a main dealers parts dept. Can probably get alternative manufacturers part for less.

Even if they are main dealer parts it still seems a bit high going by online prices? Maybe I'm not comparing like for like!

dealer parts cost more - they would have the renault brand on them. If i was you i would ring a dealer and ask how much they are

Sounds ok to me, that lot would probably be 4-5hrs labour.

Prices seem very high to me for the parts. Ball joint should cost less than €40. Not sure about sensor. Normally they don't need replacing. The metal tip on them gets dirty. Cleaned with a bit of sandpaper it should last years. I done mine 2 years ago and it's still fine. It is a bit awkward to get at but a good mechanic should be able to do all the jobs you need in 2 hours max.

I asked the mechanic when I collected the car were they dealer parts of after market - he said they were after market which really makes me think the parts are over priced.

I am happy with the work and appreciate this is skilled labour but I do feel he has inflated the price of the parts.

It is a little high, but I would have expected around the 350 mark myself for purely aftermarket parts + Labour. The original Laguna ball joints are quite difficult to remove as they are heavily riveted to the wishbone, no bolts, meaning lots of angle grinding to remove the three heads and even more hammer and chiseling to push out whats left. And bloody sore knuckles when you miss the chisel! :)

I'd shop around a bit mate. Seems fairly high to me.
