Couldn't find anywhere else more appropriate.

Anyone have any experience with ordering and receiving goods off this site? My OH told me a friend of his in work orders the odd thing off it and has no problems. But I'm particularly intrigued by the eyeshadow pallets and make-up brushes, as well as a few other things that are by far more reasonably-priced than I've seen to date (household goods and wacky stationary).

I'm not bothered by delivery times and waits - more so just the quality of the items. Was looking at pretty much getting everyone's Xmas present off it as I can see plenty that my family would love, but don't see the point in waiting 5 weeks if it turns out to be crap!

you have no way of knowing the ingredients of any makeup you buy off them.

I have used them for gadgets but they can take weeks to arrive.

I agree with the other poster, buying cosmetics from china could be iffy.

My only experience of them is when I ordered a hard drive rack and received a bicycle repair kit instead. They were quick to sort out a refund and although I don't own a bicycle, the kit seemed to be of good quality. ;)

I did think as much, was more the brush sets that caught my eye but since I don't know anyone who has bought make-up off them, I really don't know!

Many items will have user reviews under them. Also some items can be listed many times, I have seen the same identical item listed about 5 times with different prices and so has different reviews on each one.

I expect stuff to be pretty poor so do not buy critical things. I got a set of tweezers in a €2 shop and it was like they were made out of tin, no springiness or strength at all. The edges of the steel were razor sharp too, had to be sanded down.

I actually completely ignored the reviews, as a lot of them seem suspiciously articulate when voting in favour of the product. I saw an awful lot of fancy words thrown about in one particular review for the most amazing biro disguised as a syringe (I study Science, and have an odd stationary fetish, so will be ordering this regardless  )

I did see a lot of videos on YouTube of unboxing of their products, but most of them were put up by the company themselves. One I just watched on their "Nars" palette, gave the product a pretty glowing review, despite the fact that it was obviously fake, the pigmentation seemed very good. Hard to know really.

I actually think many reviews are believable/genuine, unlike some other sites.

Pidgin english would set alarm bells off for me, when its obviously the Chinese guys writing them.

The over-articulate verbose reviews might be sarcastic piss-takes. There seems to be a community of reviewers on it.

Like those funny amazon reviews for that t-shirt with the 3 wolves or the one for milk.

I suppose, hadn't thought of that. I kind of just thought to myself, a biro is a biro. Does it write, does it last very long? That's all I really need to know. The shade of blue, fluidity of the ink of several types of paper and the comfort of the pen in hand are largely irrelevant to me :p
I think I will be ordering the cosmetic brushes anyway, but I might chance my arm on one of their cheaper eyeshadow palettes and get back to people here and give them the down-low. I imagine a lot of people are afraid to order it for the same reason I am, but given the horrid quality of my last cheap palette (quarter the size) from Claire's, I can't go too wrong!

I've ordered a lot of stuff from them - mostly gadgets/tools etc and some of the stuff was poorish quality but in general I've had no faults with them. With the really cheap price and free delivery, you get what you pay for. Only real downside is the time for delivery - takes anything from 3 to 8 weeks for some stuff.

The delivery time wouldn't bother me at all really. There is nothing on the site that I would love to order and would need immediately, and from my past experiences, I never ever rely on any online shop to ship my goods before a personal deadline, I much prefer to get them in shops. But if I started now, there are a few knick knacks that would make excellent presents for Xmas!

Moved to Online Buying & Auctions.

Personally, I've bought from them a few times. Delivery has been slow (land-based mail, I presume), but the items have always been fine, considering the price paid.

I just remembered the reviews on DX also insist that users fill out all the comment boxes. Some fill them with nonsense, cut & pasted. Some type in funny stuff just to show how ridiculous it is to insist on every box being filled out, I think they might have reduced the boxes needed now.

I also forgot that as well as reviews there are discussions, these nearly always look genuine to me, and will have people voicing concerns.

You should try local €2 shops, I see loads of cosmetic type stuff in them.

That might explain it then :p

One review on a basic metal ruler: "a bit expensive, but it as a great usefulness. i am a math teacher and this helps to student see the angles is a cube, octahedron, icosahedron and other solids"

What in the heck is he using his ruler for?
