bought a 08 qashqai july last year with 26,000km on the clock. garage did a full service before we drove away and sticker on window says next service due in July or at 40,000km. were almost at the 40 now.

What sort of service should I be looking for on the car? does it need a full service? are the air and fuel filter normally changed annually?
will be bringing it back to Windsor garage where we got it and I see on their site they offer a few different types of services.

The owner's manual/service book should state what is needed, and at what interval. Do you have the manual?
It should specify the items needed to check as "full service" doesn't mean much really.

Is Windsor a qashqai dealer? If so they will probably know best and tell you what's included.
They should also be able to give you an owner's manual if you need one.

Did they stamp the service book to say what was done at the last service as this will dictate what is due now, not just the printed service schedule.

If you have no history or proof of what was done before then obviously you'll want a full service to start your records. Unfortunately the fact that you bought it from a dealer means nothing about how it will have been 'serviced' before you bought it, keeping in mind that anything they spent on it before you bought it will have been out of their profit margin.

they stamped the book for the service last year as a "major service". popped in yesterday to them on way home and they told me a "minor service" would suffice this year. was surprised, was expecting them to try to convince me it needed a full service. and cos I booked it in online in 3 weeks time its only €99 so happy out for saving a few bob cos i need to get tyres too!
    thanks guys
