Employment contract

    Hi,

I started a new job in January with a 3 month probation period. My boss has said that I'm permanent now

Question 1. Do I need a new contract stating that I am now a permanent employee?

Question 2. I am given 20 days annual leave per annum excluding bank holidays and public holidays etc. It is stated in my contract that 3 of these annual leave days must be kept for the Christmas period - surely that then only entitles me to only 17 days annual leave per annum?

All comments / advice greatly appreciated.

    Q1 no
Q2 correct - the 3 day to be kept for Christmas are for the days between Christmas and new year

Q2 no you are not correct. You are still getting your 20 days AL, not 17. Your employer can decide when you take your leave, so you are still getting 20 days leave, 17 of which you can request as suits you (and provided it is agreeable with the employer can take as suits you) and the other 3 are specified by your employer.
