whats the best phone on the market for this price range?

Nexus 4 I would reckon, you might need to add another 30 to budget though.

Id have a look on the market place on amazon. I got an essentially brand new galaxy note 2 for under 300 lately on it. It was sold by a pawn shop and was checked as not being stolen. There isn't a single mark on it and it still had the factory screen protector on it.
You have an amazon guarantee as long as you purchase through their system . :)

Unless it's also fulfilled by Amazon the only things that Amazon will guarantee you is that it's condition is as described and and it will arrive within a delivery window. If you have any problems with the phone, you will have to deal with the seller directly, which can be a pain.

Yes that's right, but at least if it turns out to be stolen, not as described,a clone etc you have some recourse ,you don't get that buying second hand from adverts.ie lets say.

This looks like a pretty decent phone. It's not a brand name but it's quad core and has the new mediatek SoC and is cortex a7 which means that it does not consume much power! Combine that with the 3000 mAh battery then the life of this phone should be pretty good. It also has 1GB RAM so it has very good specs for a low price and a 13mp camera and room for a memory card!

I've bought a tablet off the website before and am extremely happy with it so it might be worth a shot! Hope this helps!

there's dozens of no-name Chinese phones based on that MTK chip (was looking on AliExpress recently) - I'd want a recommendation or to see some good reviews before picking any one in particular.
