Is it possible to carry a third passenger in the middle rear seat of a standard saloon when there are two fitted child seats? I mean legally. Can't find the info on RSA website.

    Cheers lads.

I can't see why not, if they're wearing a seatbelt.

Ah right, so it's just down to that. Cheers.

That would depend on how many seats the car had designated as opposed to what the rsa say. Mine is 4.

In that case the car won't have a fifth seat belt.

A Ford Mondeo. Presumably designated 5 seats including driver as there is a middle seat belt which straps across shoulder...not the waist type. I guess it's just if it's physically possible for someone to fit into middle space...i.e not fat bottomed girls.

It needs to strap across the shoulder and waist. You may have a belt which needs to be anchored twice.

Sorry yeah, I mean the standard seatbelt across waist and shoulder as opposed to the single waist type

Assuming the middle seat passenger is not fat or big, they will be fine. Herself used to get the cheap seat occasionally when there would be a mother/inlaw to transport in the front along with the two kids.

Getting into the middle seat can be a challenge, and it may require dexterity to get the belt to click. but you HAVE to do it from a legal perspective and it will not be comfortable.

It helps if the kid seats are smallish. You are lucky with a Mondeo, many other cars would break your back trying that.
