Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows when the new Nexus 7 will be available? Will it feature a camera/mircosd slot/hdmi out? I have the Nexus 7 but feel the addition of these extras would make it a killer 7" tablet:D

Nothing concrete on the Nexus 7 Mk. II until July I believe.

I've got my eye on one too, might wait until I head over to the US later on in the year. Not too much a hardware upgrade on the way apparently, 1080p screen resolution, 4-core Snapdragon processor, improved battery life, front-facing camera. Keep an eye on the US tech sites for updates over the next few weeks.

probably will have a camera but probably won't have external storage card as google seek to sell content from playstore so don't want you loading this up externally. hdmi not sure but probably not also.

Good chance it will come with wireless charging like the Nexus 4 along with the rear camera. Can't see the external SD card slot happening either. Probably have a LTE version available too.

As for the HDMI out the new Nexus 7 will probably have dual band WiFi so it will support Miracast which was added in Android 4.2. The current Nexus 7 is only single band Wi-Fi and I think all Miracast supported devices are dual band. Google will probably push this instead of the HDMI out.

I think I'll finally give in to buying a tablet once this is released.

Have been reading rumors for months and still no official word on it.

Cheers for the info all, it's a pity about the lack of micro sd slot and hdmi out, guess we'll just have to wait a few more weeks for confirmation.

as Droffodx said you can count on their being NO SD slot, well as long as it has a "Nexus" in its name ;)

Sold my original Nexus 7 last week in anticipation that its value would plummet as soon as the 2nd edition came out... Getting DAMN impatient waiting on it now :)

Had hoped a little more info would appear with the release of the Galaxy 4 Nexus, but no such luck :(

Hey folks, hope Im not derailing the thread here. But I was wondering if people thought it would be worth buying the Nexus 7 (original) for simple browsing on the move, Ingress, etc?

It's an awesome tablet and still more than powerful. I'd recommend buying it. If you want to wait another 1-2 months when the second one comes out you'll probably save yourself around €50 euro. It's hard for the price to drop much more more as it's already pretty cheap and I'm using the new Kindle Fire which had a similar price and size as a guild for how much the original might drop.

Cool, theres a guy here in Galway selling one for 175 (16GB) with the cover that puts it to sleep. Its in perfect condition so thats not a bad price I guess considering they're 250 new.
