Honda FR-V 1.8 petrol - 2007 with 120k. Would mileage put you off?

Seen one of these in the UK that I am tempted by, have been chatting to the dealer who is selling it, and it has full main dealer service history (9 stamps), never been damaged, and it looks in mint condition.

120k on the 2.2 diesel probably wouldn't scare me as much, but is that too much mileage on the petrol engine?

    Any thoughts?

Not if it was priced accordingly.

It would be about €7900 to buy it and pay the VRT on it.

Then there would be the cost of a one-way flight, petrol to the ferry and passage over.

I'm guessing probably all in would be in and around the €8500 mark.

Edit, just searched CarsIreland and this 2007 one

is 7450. Only thing is, the one I seen is an EX model, full leather and totally loaded, but not sure if it would be worth the extra. In fact probably not (although I find the velour seats awful on the FR-V).

Less miles, poorer spec (although that doesn't affect the value on an 07 as much as you'd imagine) but it's a 1.8 petrol.

That car is very clean but it has been poorly sprayed all along the bottom half, all the way around it. I wouldn't buy it in favour of an unsprayed one. I have driven the car in that ad. The price is about right though - if you have cash to splash you should head to the UK and get an Exec model with leather and toys.

Just make sure the gearbox isn't sticking changing down to second and that the clutch isn't slipping.

Why would it be sprayed? Was it crashed? Or just badly marked?

Salesman claimed it had been keyed, I just see orange peel all along the car and poorly buffed paint on the rear quarterpanels. No sign of wing removal, but panel fit at headlamps not great. I didn't get under it or check for signs of door repair/removal.

Would it be a reasonable buy at €7k?

You're sort of scaring me though.

Don't mind me - its just coincidental that I stopped to look at it. The mileage is relatively low, the interior is spotless and it has nice alloys, good tyres and factory tinted rear glass - I'd buy it if it was original but I'm notoriously fussy. The aircon works, all the electrical stuff works and the boot is really clean. It has a towbar but no sign of abuse around the back bumper and it is NCT'd for two years.

Go for it, but offer €6650 cash to start off with based on the fact that 'your mechanic' said it had been resprayed and be prepared to come up to €7k if you really want it.

    Some info on honest john
    http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/honda/fr-v-2004/
The "what's bad" page is very short, normally they're full of dealer recalls and reports of owner issues. e.g. similar page for a golf:

Don't have any references, but I believe the VTEC engine is "legendary" in terms of reliability, but worth checking the maintenance schedule for other major replacements due.

As an update on this, the seller emailed me with a fair bit of info on it, and I was tempted to go for a test drive.

Then reading your replies I emailed them back and asked if it was ever damaged? I got a short, sharp reply basically saying "sorry car now sold".

Yet its still up on CarsIreland and their own website for sale! I am starting to wonder whether they are just slow to take it down, or is it still available for sale and they didn't want to tell me something.
