Season 4 will, essentially, be awful. The seniors will be fodder. Maybe one or two will survive. But I dunno....

I can't help but feel that they will do another time jump forward to about six months later. Probably show some flashbacks, although would be happy to be wrong.

I wouldn't write the seniors off too quick, they might turn out to be interesting. Some of them might be useful ie ex military survival experts or something. Most will end up just being walker food but it would be a waste it the writers didn't do something interesting with them.

Yeah, interesting like Grandpa Simpson story telling interesting :p Am afraid TWD has slid into the very mediocre mire. Will probably watch the next season but with little enthusiasm if I'm honest.

    I'm not writing anything off.

Look at how many people were interested in the gang/old people's home in season 1.

    How so?

    How so?

Well, for one, 'our group' wasn't the one looking after the oldies. It was a story they were involved in but, ultimately, could walk away from (and did). Also, they were a bigger, stronger group at the time, with Shane and T-Dog still alive, among others who have also since died. Morale wasn't nearly as low as it is now, the group was mobile and there wasn't a crazed lunatic with a vendetta against them. In S1, the old folks was a humanist story. By this stage, the groups humanism is all but gone and our perception of it, through them, has dissipated as such. Even if this marks a 're-humanisation' for the characters, the audience is no longer invested in that; we no longer care about them doing the right thing by the oldies. We kinda just want to see some bloody zombie kills.

Timeskip is confirmed to be at least a few months. Season premier is titled "30 Days without Incident". Trailer for the season released on friday.

Maybe an island and make it more like lost, make it like an abandoned military testing island that's deserted (the group don't know what it is) and have clues about the cause and cure on it.

Before that though they take to sea in some crappy wooden vessel, at sea they find one of those holiday cruise liners, and low and behold, one of the old guys retired navy captain.

    Good god no.

I don't care about causes and cures. We have a sheriff, a one legged farmer and his daughters, a pizza delivery boy, and a few other heads.

Who exactly is supposed to research cures?

You're essentially taking every one of the Romero "of the Dead" films, and rehashing them into The Walking Dead.

Mid Season finale, slaughter off the oul wans, most of the group, and move on past the Governor storyline.

When has there ever been a ship or tropical island in any of '... the dead' movies because that's one film id pay mega bucks to see.

And I'm not talking about them spending time in a lab searching a cure, I'm more on about a mystery island with secrets (like lost) but with zombies too.

I do agree with you about the governer, he has had his day. What ever they do with the show hopefully they keep the comic book feel to it like what they did in season 3, because there was nothing more boring than what they did during the first few episodes of season 2 and all the 'character building'.

Dawn of the Dead (2004 Zack Snyder remake) ended with them going off on a boat, and then showed (interspersed over the credits) snippets of them sailing for a while and landing on an island.
    It didn't end well.

Survival of the Dead had the protagonists going from the mainland to an island via a boat. Brutal movie, don't waste your time.

    Well...

Dawn of the Dead (2004 remake): Escape at the end on to pleasure yacht, sail to "deserted" island.
Day of the Dead (1985): Underground military bunker bunker. Was originally on an island.
Day of the Dead (2008): Can't believe I'm even referencing this crap, but they end up at a missile site, where they discover the underground bunker.

I genuinely don't care about the cause of the zombie outbreak. They've touched on it in the CDC episode, and that was enough. A lot of zombie material breaks down when they try to explain what causes it. Plus, I find it scarier when we just don't know.

And remember folks, the walking dead in the title doesn't reference the zombies, but references the survivors. They'll all die sooner or later, and without destroying the brain, they'll come back as zombies. People get sick. People die of "unknown" causes. People get ravaged by cancer, pneumonia, chicken pox, appendicitis, allergies, infections, hell the common cold could strike someone down.

What with all the commotion from the running gun battles in Season 3, where's the swarms and herds of zombies attracted to the noise? The prison has already proven that unsafe, as the Tyreese group JUST WALKED IN!

Alexandria, Hilltop colony, and the Saviors would be a better story line, rather than "Wooooooo, a scary island, with weird shít, just like back in the 00's"

Never watched survival but have seen the dawn remake, they were on a boat for 4 seconds in the movie. I'm talking about one of those holiday cruise boats with swimming pools and casinos. There could be zombies and other survivors on the boat. I'll admit the island is a tad cliche.

Id actually like to see the show move back into an urban setting though the budget would perhaps be to expensive for it, but fighting for survival with other gangs and zombies as well as skavaging food and water could make life very tough and entertaining, but who knows why they'd go to the city unless they got word that it was a short cut to a boat and tropical island.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120458/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3 (Not zombies, but still.)

    There ye go.

EDIT:And cutting through a city just wouldn't make sense. It'd be suicide. Way easier to skirt around it. It'd be quicker in the end up, and a whole pile safer.
EDIT 2: How could I forget http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118956/?ref_=sr_1 Again, not zombies, but it still think it's a bloody brilliant film.

Some of thoses movies sound awesome! With a better budget I could see them being some of the best.

And it sounds better than your safe hill top resort, sure you might as well call the show eastenders or something, "ay patsy are those zombies still out side? Better make a cuppa so".

While a "Cruise Ship of the Dead" would be high on my list of things to watch, it wouldn't suit The Walking Dead.

Geography wise, I don't think they're that far away from Atlanta yet. Macon and Savannah (from the game) nearby as well. 250 miles from Savannah to Atlanta. (On a side note, I see from googling that Tallahassee and Columbus (well, Columbus Georgia, AND Columbus Ohio) from Zombieland aren't a million miles away either. Poor ole Atlanta, zombies all over the shop.)

The Hilltop colony and Alexandria are still prone to attack, human threat, and zombie herds. It's people that make a series like this intriguing. Spread out over 45/50 minutes, over a series arc, things can be developed. 90 minutes on a ship, great. But 45/50 minutes, over a series, on a boat? It'd get stagnant very, VERY quickly.

Well you might be right about the boat it would have a real jumping the shark feel to it.

I just think the safe colony thing has been done with the prison and the town place, its probably the most likely direction the show will go however.

Id personally like the show to really push the boat out there this season, the show has kinda moved away from the real human emotion and made it more comic booky, I haven't read the comics but the black sword girl, the governer, Carl as billy the kid all have a comic book feel to it, even the violence looks like a comic book in season 3, at this stage in the show too many original characters have died so you really don't want too invest to much emotions in the characters, so the best thing to do is have a surreal setting.

Alexandria, Hilltop colony, and the Saviors would be a better story line,
    ....

Cost a lot of money and take a lot of actors to re-create that world on TV show

I really tried to get into this but the writting is terrible. People do the most unrealistic things i.e. Glenn and the well.
The walking dead game had a far better story and character development (and Clemintine the best child character ever).
Ill probably still watch it to comolain though :-D

Very little online buzz about the return of TWD, surprising when you consider that its AMCs other big show, maybe people are losing interest a bit, its definitely gonna jump the shark if they drag it past 5 seasons, I find myself very meh about the whole Season 4 thing..

    Really Wanderer? Websites are buzzing
Ep 1 Leaked on google if you have $27.99
Reviews also out for Ep 1: recieving praise for the most part Gimples raised standards apparently

regardless of online buzz or not, AMC had this to say yesterday
Sunday’s zombie drama return delivered a big 16.1 million viewers and a stunning 8.2 rating among adults 18-49. That’s up 30 percent in the demo from the show’s previous high (the season 3 finale).

The Walking Dead also once again has crushed the broadcast networks: This is the largest telecast of the fall in the adult demo, beating all broadcast entertainment shows.

Pretty strong going for any show in it's 4th season imo

Each season has a theme note the main promotional poster of each season.

    Season 1 = Atlanta

    Season 2 = Farm
    twdnewposter.jpg

    Season 3 = Prison
    The-Walking-Dead-Season-3-Official-Poster-350x517.jpg

And what does Season 4 show
The prison at sunset , Ricks gun lowered and appearing to turn/walk away, fences busted,
And just over Ricks shoulder is a flock of a dozen Migratory birds is following a lead bird in a North -east direction, perhaps a symbol of the remaining survivors next path
and the rest of the season , A group of a dozen follow someone north east on a long journey
