Gas, should i leave it on all Day

    I have a gas boiler and i turn the hot water switch on at 9.00 am and turn off about 11 pm there is another switch for the heating i normally turn the heating on around 5pm depending on the weather

    What i want to know is because i have the basic hot water on at 9 am till 11 pm and heating on at 5pm and there is only 2 of us in house

    Should i just turn on as i need it

    Gas bill is getting dearer

    Have you temp control as in a cylinder stat and room stat?

    That's the worst way of running your hot water requirements. Basically, a standard copper insulated cylinder will lose approx 30c over a 24 hour period so all you are doing is heating for your requirement plus keeping up with the heat loss of the cylinder.

    As Dtp79 says, fit zone controls over all heating zones, including HW but with TIME & TEMPERATURE control to each zone.
    Heat when you require heat, say 1/2 hour in the morning & 1/2 hour in the evening. If the second timing is already hot from the previous, the thermostat will turn off the boiler earlier via a motorised valve or not let it come on at all, thus reducing your gas bill.
