Selling to the UK

I have sold a vehicle to a UK resident (and have been fully paid so no scams). The deal includes me delivering it to Holyhead. What do I do with the registration certificate? Do I treat it as if I'm selling it here? In other words, fill in the details and send it to Shannon?

no, don't send it to shannon, give the seller the VLC reg doc, you don't need to do anything else, but you might want to drop them a line in shannon to inform them the reg, make model and date the car left the state.

What Midlands said.....and print off a receipt showing all the cars details Make, Model, Reg & Chassis nos. and both you and the buyer can sign and date it.
If you're really concerned take a mobile phone photo of his licence. If he's genuine he shouldn't have a problem with this.

To be honest I wouldn't give a photocopy of my licence to seller of a car I'm buying.
Fact that I would be genuine doesn't mean he is.

What would be the point anyway?

Write a contract of sale (names, addresses, car details, and both signatures - all this in two copies) and I can't see a reason for anything additional.

The point is to confirm the identity of the buyer.......or at least something that probably confirms their ID.
Fair enough if selling in Ireland, and sending the VLC away yourself.
Different story if you are just handing your VLC to a stranger.
Also nobody mentioned a photocopy.....just a mobile phone photo.
Plenty of places nowadays will take a photo (or photocopy) of your licence as part of their transaction with you....car hire companies, insurance companies, Tool hire companies, most scrapyards when selling any metal, even some campsites (I could go on).
It's a lot more common than you think Cinio.

At the very, very least I would want to see the guy's licence to confirm it matches the details he has given me if I was in this seller's situation.

edit; I'm sure the buyer would like to see the seller's licence to confirm that he is the person named on the VLC, and therefore entitled to actually sell the car.

Thanks for all the advice which I followed. Delivered it to Holyhead today. He checked the VIN against the reg. doc and the owner's name against my driving licence, we signed receipts, I gave him the reg doc. and that was it.

    Too late.
If OP wanted his VRT back, he would have to put car through inspection before it was exported.
