    TLDR: Who would be the irish k starr? or what sort of professional/combination of professionals do i need to seek out? for multiple mobility and tight muscle issues?

    I started to try and get fit because I had bad knees since I was a teenager, went to a doctor he told me it was growing pains, 10 years later went to another DR he said was growing pains (I was 23/24 at this stage!)
    Last year went to yet another DR, he said I just have bad knees. Luckily he referred me to a physiotherapist.
    While waiting for my referral I started to go to the gym, the DR recommended since I have quite strong legs to increase the muscle around the knee. SO I hit the gym for the first time in 20 years.
    Im lucky enough to have a friend who is a very knowledgeable PT who helped set me up with a program and mock my complete inflexibility.

    I went to the physio who prescribed some additional exercises most of which were light un weighted versions of what I was doing with my PT. I did them for 2 months in addition to my gym program and so no results, the physio seemed stumped, suggested a few more exercises and basically fobbed me off.
    The knee pain hasnt changed better or worse. I still keep up with the gym tho

    The gym stuff has managed to highlight other areas I need to work on drastically and it is holding me back.

    I have poor thoracic flexibility. which is caused by bad posture for working on my feet for 15 years and slouching in front of the computer or a bar when I wasn't working.

    I have little to no hip mobility from the same, as well as minimal ankle mobility and obv the knee thing.

    From my limited research I now believe all of my issues stem from the basic cause that i rarely mobilise my self the way I should. I found mobilitywod through this forum and it has really helped me.

    I think all of these problems are caused by tight calf and quad muscles (even though I have never in my life trained my legs my calfs and quads are always 90% tensed, infact I cant actually flex my calfs any more than they already are) These tight muscles (i think) are pulling my knee out of line causing knee pain, pulling my back out of wack meaning I cant bend properly which misaligns and rounds my shoulders.

    To help I have been to a DR, a physio and a chiropractor and while they have all chipped away at some symptom or other I think I need a whole body solution.

    Working through mobilitywod.com I have started to see improvements in some areas, although it is very slow painful work .
    and reading the book "...Supple leopard" I think I may be heading in the right direction.

    I think my initial attempts to fix these issues were not focused as I am unfamiliar with the sports based medical professionals who specialise in these issues. I am confident that a professional in a similar vein to kelly starrett is the way to go. But specifically they need to be sports orientated as I wish to progress in these areas as I think this is the way forward for me.

    I know there are a few people like this in dublin, and there are a few on the forum who have linked me to videos on mobilitywod in the first place.

    Who would be the person (facility?) to head towards who can cope with all of these issues and help me progress froward in the gym?
    (preferably southside, dundrum/dun laoghaire areas and cheap enough :P)

    Im hoping that it can all be done by the one type of professional, but my limited knowledge means I dont know what type to seek out, physio? physical therapist, strength and condition coach? personal trainer? sports masseuse, chiropractor? sports therapist, Doctor?

    I also have a pain in my elbow, pain in the lower back, sore neck, and heartburn. at this stage I think I may implode. ;-)

    I've good things about Sports Med Ireland and Functional Training Ireland.

    Tbh though the above makes you sound as mobile as a plank of wood. If you know these are a problem, then you know where to start. No amount of foam rolling or sitting on a hockey ball dos as much as a heavy man forcing his elbow into you.

    If you're looking for someone like Kelly the best practitioner to go to would be someone versed in Australian physical therapy/Mulligans technique as most of his stuff is variations of these techniques using different tools to replace the Therapist! Mulligans glide & slides techniques are so simple but they're amazing!

    There's hardly anyone in the country trained in this so I'd look to the CrossFit boxes with physio's as part of their team. CrossFit Ireland & CrossFit Dublin I think have guys working out of their boxes! A good sports physio/Musculo skeletal therapist should be able to help you!

    You're taking what I said out of context! There are a handful of therapists using Mulligans In Ireland. Kelly Starrett uses Mulligans technique (amongst others).

    I never said NMT's have more training or are better? I also never mentioned Alexandra but if she gets the results the lads says she does why run her down? I take it you've a bias for IPTAS?

    On the NMT subject I do know that Leon Chaitow teaches Mulligan concepts as part of the NMT HDip process though (not saying that this is better or worse), which if you were looking for someone akin to K Starr you're getting a similar treatment model!

    Well, I am sorry if I ran Alexandria down. I don't see where I did and I did not intend to. I thought what I said was that she was magic in the wheel.
    I have no comment on K Starr either. So please don't imply I am trying to run him down.
    I just thought the comment about "hardly anyone" being trained to use a specific set of techniques was a bit off. And those techniques would be a small part of a treatment approach that needs a lot of other assessment and treatment skills.
    And yes - I am all for physical therapists but not necessarily to the exclusion of others. There are a few hundred of properly qualified physical therapists practising in Ireland.

    I totally agree with everything you're saying, the whole point is the OP asked for an equivalent to KStarr as I said in my post a big part of Kstarr's treatments is Mulligans technique (and how to self apply), you're reading too much into what was said!
