New PSU advice

    Hi guys,

Recently built a new PC but I thought I could keep my old PSU.

Now my old PC used to die randomly and I thought it was due to old hardware or damaged hardware somewhere.

So I built a new one. And it seems it was my psu that was causing it all along. My graphics card doesn't seem to be working well at all. I'd be getting mad graphical glitches and the likes. And it's not a card issue as its a 7950 and should run these games with ease.

So my question is, I need a good quality PSU for an overclocked 3570k and 7950. As I haven't bought a PSU in years could you guys recommend a PSU for me? :)

What psu are you currently using?

Graphical glitches normally points to a faulty graphics card.

For an overclocked 3570k and 7950 a good quality 500w psu is plenty. Any from super flower, XFX, corsair, be quiet or seasonic.

I've an Antec trupower 850W so it's massive overkill.

As for the glitches. I thought it was the card but there's no sign of overheating or anything that would point to it being faulty.

It doesn't need to get hot. My old GPU would glitch while just surfing the web.

Hmmm maybe your right. PSU does need to be replaced however as it causing failures on the PC.

The front runners seem to be corsair or Xfx non modular PSUs

Both are good and both use the same OEM (Seasonic). But, I'd go with Corsair because they usually have a better warranty.

Edit: Which models are looking at because not all are Seasonic OEM coming from Corsair.

Would you recommend 600 or 650w?

In around that price is perfect.

You'd be okay with even 500W with overclocking, looking at the power consumption of those cards.
How much do overclockers charge for shipping to Ireland these days?

The Seasonic/XFX ones are good alright. Here's a few other suggestions.
    Corsair GS 600: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Gaming-Series-Edition-Bronze/dp/B00AMLKARU/
    Corsair CX 600 modular: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Builder-Series-Modular-Certified/dp/B00ALYOTTI/
(Select amazon.co.uk on the RHS for free delivery, £60.33). If I recall correctly, CWT builds both of these PSUs and they're decent enough.

Some of the newer OCZ PSUs are okay too. Here's their modular lineup. I think they're fairly good quality but I remember people saying that they were a little noisy.

Still £10 for delivery a few months ago anyway.

I ordered a GPU from OverclockersUK Friday and it was 10.55 for shipping. It always takes two days to get here when I order from them. Also, they will price match if you call them up.

Price match in the UK? Or will try price match say, HArdwareversand?

Well, I only did it with another UK site (Scan). I say they wouldn't price match hardwareversand.

Yeah, I expect you're correct. Still good, though!
