    Hi all,
I have moved into our new build last week, started 2nd October 2013 and everything went very well.
I will be onto my engineer shortly for a snag list but i want to try get some things on it that he might not spot. The only thing is i cannot find or think of items that are snags and should be on the list, basically we cannot find any faults!

Anyone have a good sample snag list that they had got done or what goes inot a snag list?

Dont worry, i will get my engineer to do it, but just a bit worried he might not be that thorough.

It'll be a very long list if you're doing it before the house starts...:pac:

A snag list should contain any aspects from the plans, site layout, specification, contract or details which is partly finished or unfinished. Also included should be items remaining unfinished for full compliance with the Building Regulations or the planning permissions or general good building practices.

I don't think it would be unreasonable for you to send a list of the items you think require attention to your engineer prior to his / her inspection / snagging. That way they can assess how serious those items are when they are doing the snagging.

We have received these lists in the past and have integrated them (where appropriate, as sometimes the client has damaged items and tried to get the contractor to fix them - that's not on!) into our own snag list for issue to the contractor. Its also good for client - professional relations if the pro is seen to be listening to the client.

Don't be afraid of your engineer, ask the stupid questions, if your engineer is courteous and professional enough they will reply with enough info to keep you 'in the loop'.

    but the OP states
basically we cannot find any faults!
OP if you trust your Eng great, leave it to him - if you dont, seek a second professional opinion. best of luck in your new home

A nice position to be in, not finding any faults. One suggestion I'd make is ensuring that you use all the rooms (e.g. showering in the guest en-suite to see if there might be a leak in the silicone of the show-tray, etc)

Good point zrejvpx, we have moved in and are only using some rooms, think its time to do a bit of camping
