PSNI on Tattoos

    Hello everyone

I've read over the rules on tattoos but I wanted to get a direct answer from someone who knows a little and has maybe been in my position.

    4. of disproportionate size in overall area; or (This concerns me)

I have a full sleeve tattoo, stops just before my wrist so you cannot see it at all when wearing a shirt. Someone close to me in the police told me it is required to wear short sleeve shirts for dress code so I could face a problem?

My tattoos are all non religious, mean absolutely nothing to a random person and wouldn't offend anyone at all. Could I face problems in recruitment?

As I don't want to post a photo of my arm I'll David Beckhams as it is the scale of what I mean but mine doesn't come as close to the wrist.

Hey. I have a half sleeve and passed my medical.

It's an odd statement re size. Not sure what it means tbh in reality. I think it's a get out clause for the psni if they think a tattoo seems unacceptable ie ink on the face or neck for example. But not overly sure.

As long as it's not sectarian in nature, or the usual common sense offenders: porn, racism, flags, football clubs, swear words, etc., and you'll be fine.

No hiding it. They check at medical.

Mine can be covered by a t-shirt.

I aslo have this fear.. :( but in your opiniom is "religious" clasified as unacceptible? Surely not? Take beckhams above for eg... ?

Surely it should be acceptable if it can be covered by a part of your uniform. And not offensive/sectarian etc...

    Afternoon all,
I have 3 small ***** on the inside of my wrist.
I am due to sit the IST shortly; I would have these lasered off if needs be but
will see if I pass my IST and take it from there.

Does anyone know if these would be deemed as not acceptable? They would be visible tho :( with short sleeve shirt.

    Any feedback/help is welcomed,

    Thanks, Newbie/

As long as the tattoos do not have any offensive, sexual or any other meaning that could be considered a taboo and the tattoos are not so large that they make you look like a thug then I think its acceptable.

I have 2 tattoos, nothing offensive, and I passed the medical and vetting for last campaign before the plug was pulled on recruitment. Therefore I wldnt worry about a few stars
