So i bit the bullet today and got the S4 after having my Galaxy Nexus, the phone itself is class, but im not loving a couple of Samsung specific apps, starting with the Samsung message app.

Is it possible to download the .apk for the stock android SMS app and replace the Samsung one with it?

Im looking to change more to get a more Stock feel to the phone but id like to start with that.

    Thanks in advance

I use this app. It's pretty much exactly the stock app.

seen that if it wasnt for the MMS glitch i would definitely use it. I would still like to know if the stock APK will run over touchwhiz?

As the stock messaging app is a system app you will need to be rooted and install it via adb or cwm. You cannot simply install the apk.

Yes. But it would be less hassle to just install an older version of the app I first posted with mms working.
