Post Office Complaint

So a week ago I went to the post office to post things and cash in a postal order. There were no problems. I brought ID in case but I wasn't asked to show it (I wasn't sure why, maybe as I was under 18 or they stopped doing it). It was fine and they were very nice.
Today I went up to do the same. This time they demanded ID, I gave them my library card but it wasn't enough. I explained what happened last week and that was why I didn't bring proper ID. They asked me what did my server look like, but I didn't really remember. They then both, very rudely, said they didn't believe me. I could only post one of the things and went home quite angry as they treated the whole thing like it was my own fault. Can I complain? Is it my fault or do they just change the rules weekly or something?
Thanks, any help is much appreciated. I'm new here so apologies if this wasn't great!

Sounds like this week they worked by the rules and last week you got a bit of leeway.
