    Hello,

I am in a group of six research interns from the USA. I've learned there are no undergrads at DCU for the summer. Are there still any in town? Where do college students hangout around Dublin?

    Thanks!

There won't really be any undergrads around Dublin (anywhere) for the Summer. Our term ends in April/May and doesn't start again until September. Hence, you won't catch many hanging around college when they don't need to be there! A lot of students who attend college in Dublin are from other parts of the country so they'll mostly all have gone home/abroad for the Summer too.

The only time you might see some is in August coming up to repeat exams. However, they'll mostly be in the library then.

There's also a few intra students floating around campus.

OP best best would be contact the SU's of the colleges to send out a posting / mail saying your looking for students in Dublin. Should be easy.

Hey, thanks for your reply! What do you mean by SU's, and how would I contact them? Thanks a lot!

Intra students are those on work placement as part of their degree. I'm not sure if the ones referred to are working in DCU or just living campus though.

UStart is a programme for DCU students setting up start up companies. They have been sponsored and provided with office space and accommodation on campus for the summer.

In terms of where to find them, I'm afraid that I don't know. I'm not actually a DCU student myself. I'm basing what I know off what my boyfriend, who is a DCU student and is currently working with UStart, has told me. I can try talk to him and see what he knows.

There's certainly a few intra students working in the research labs, ask the postgrads in your research labs sure. Also, the postgrads are good fun too *cough*

What faculty are you guys doing research in. Often there are F/T masters students in Engineering and a few others around.

All year round you'll have post grad students popping in, but you'll also have some undergrads around for study/repeat exams as well as society events. I know the Anime & Society generally run through the summer every Thursday, Gamessoc seem to be holding some events and the rock climbing club are in the minor hall every Tuesday and Thursday evening.
Also, you'll have other interns and some erasmus students and such knocking around. DCU isn't as busy during the summer, but it's never empty

Excellent post. Only other thing I can think to add is that their is summer accomodation available on campus through the summer.
