Hi Guys, Looking for some advice.
I have an 02 Astra 1.4 16v. The problem is when I start cold in the morn it will tick over fine but if I start to drive it will start to rev up. It will rev to 2500 drop to 2000 back up then down, it will do this for about 5 mins then settles. It is also very jumpy and does not rev/accelerate clean, feels down on power as well. there is a pending error P0230 fuel pump primary circuit. The light only comes on after restart or in traffic (ie town) I removed the egr valve which seems to be stuck shut tried to push open but wont move.
    Help appreciated.

    Aiden

The relay for your fuel pump likely needs to be changed to sort out the code. This may help the acceleration problem too. Along with that you could clean the throttle body.

Regarding The initial over revving, could be related to the electronic choke, especially if it goes away, but you could also check if there is an isle speed control valve on the throttle body housing.

EGR valve can be cleaned with carb cleaner

Thanks for advice, will check the relay. I have already cleaned the throttle body and tried cleaning the egr valve but still stuck.
    Thanks again

Did you drive it with egr valve disconnnected to see how it drives then, had same problem with mine ,drove fine with it disconnnected (so egr problem), would rule this out if you try it anyway.

Having same issue with my one out here in Melbourne, weather has gone from pretty hot to like 4 degrees in morning which is freezing temperature here and been told replacing the battery should fix it up? Could that be issue also?

Replacing battery Will fix a jumpy engine?
you could try it, but if battery gets car started, i would look elsewhere , egr valve or coil are common faults on astras, then again I'm no mechanic.

    Hi
Not having much luck with anything else. Haven't checked battery as it starts the car everytime. \but think it might be worth getting it checked. I will let you know how it goes.
    Thanks

if the egr valve is faulty it will cause these problems as my did. when i disconnected the lead going to it, the car drove fine, when connected problem back., you can buy a blanking plate on ebay, some Astra owners do this because egr valves are a problem, drawn back is the car will run fine but engine management light will be on, you can have it turned off on the Ecu not to recognize it., or buy a new egr valve, not from dealer (expensive),ebay sell them or a on line motorfactors.
