I was just wondering if it is possible for the likes of alpha rooms or roomex etc could have availability in hotels, even when you ring the hotel themselves and they say they have no rooms available? I just dont want to book something and then discover that the booking wont actually exist as such, its happened before.

I've used roomex before with no problems (use repeat.roomex.com for more discount!) I reckon the likes of those companies have a couple of rooms they get at a preferential rate so can sell those even when the hotel's own site says fully booked. Try trivago.ie too! ;)

    It is what it's.

    Not necessarily true!

I had the same problem before, seen that a hotel was hotel was fully booked on their website but available through a third party website. I called the hotel to ask about it and they said they were 100% fully booked and if I booked through hotels.com I would be notified of a cancellation in 24 hours or worse be sent to their sister hotel on the day.

If I was you I'd phone the hotel just to double check if they hold rooms for third party websites.
