A documentary on TWA Flight 800 will air on July 17th.
CNN reports that retired investigators will claim that they believe that sparking from wiring near the central fuel tanks was not the cause of the explosion, that the official push was to find that there was a fault with the aircraft, and that they themselves believe the explosion occurred outside the aircraft.
Many eyewitnesses at the time reported seeing something streaking from sea level skywards just before the aircraft exploded. At the time, US naval forces were carrying out exercises in the area.
It will be interesting to hear what the investigators have to say, and if any new investigation into the accident will take place.
