Is this dress suitable for a wedding?

    Hi ladies,

I have a dress similar in style to this for a wedding next week. I'm in my late 20's and while I like it I'm getting cold feet over it. I'm wondering is the style too casual, I have been seeing a lot of full length styles in pictures of wedding friends have attended, and while these wouldn't suit me I feel that my dress might be more suited to a night out?

My own dress has some grey in it also but the general shape and length is pretty similar to this. I find that most dresses i have seen in shops stop below my knee which can be quite unflattering.

I'm also wondering where do people manage to find such dressy dresses! I'm avoiding coast, ted baker, Karen Millen etc as the dresses they have I more than likely wouldn't wear too much again as they are often too dressy for work.

Any opinions and advice are appreciated.

I think that dress is perfectly suitable for a summer wedding. I would wear it to one with a nice shawl, clutch and heels! Enjoy the wedding.

Its certainly dressy enough but potential to be rather chilly - I'd be covering up with a woolly cardi.

If you have a figure like that chick in the picture then go for it...very hot!

    I don't think its suitable.

I'd go with either off shoulder or short but not both for a wedding.

That's a fab dress for a summer wedding, I'd team it with a blazer or something for the church\service though and a nice pair of heels and a clutch, it'll be fab

Its nice but Id cover my shoulders - at least until later on in the evening.

Little bolero or jacket or something to formalise it up a bit for daytime.

For a summer wedding is grand you get more wear after it too so not have to buy especially if you think you wear it again.

You can dress it up with a shawl or short sleeved bolero/cardigan if dry warm sunny White maybe or similar colour to design/colour. Blazer if weather is cool or wet.

Footwear and jewellery make the outfit maybe small headpiece like hairband or comb or slide in the side.

I don't think it's suitable OP. IMO it's a bit too casual and I agree with Stench Blossoms - for a wedding I wouldn't go with the short length and bare shoulders. Nice for a summery night out though!

Love love love it!!!! Definitely suitable....if you're conscious though just pop on a fitted blazer for the church.

I seen this dress on a girl walking about town yesterday, It's lovely but personally I think the material makes it look too casual.

Thanks to everyone for their honest opinions.

I know myself it's a very casual dress but as it stands I haven't seen anything better and I think i could try to dress it up.

Just to note its not this exact dress but the style of mine is very similar.

I'm trying my best to dress it up and I've got a coral fascinator so far. I have seen a fab scarf to wear over my shoulders but its currently more expensive than the dress but I'm keeping my eye on it in the sales!

Thanks again for the advice, if I see anything better ill post again but for the time being I'm sticking with it. Ill prob get panicky again during the week though as my friend is wearing a full length dress so I'm still a bit worried that ill look silly.

I think it's gorgeous. I would absolutely agree to cover up for the ceremony with blazer or shawl or something, but I wouldn't say it's inappropriate at all for a wedding.

It would depend on the fascinator whether I'd go with one or not... a lot of them are a bit pointless with just a few feathers sticking out- I just have a bit of an aversion to them though so maybe that's just me.

I think if you dress it up with heels and a blingy bracelet or something- and then add in make up and a hairdo- that's dressy enough!
