Just saw what looked to be a big meteor coming down while looking out towards the Northside from the quays. Looking on twitter there and folks from Manchester, Burnley, Armagh, Mayo, Kerry and Liverpool reported it.

Is it normal for these things to be seen by such a wide area?

yes it is normal--they are hundreds of miles high---congrats on seeing it, I've yet to see a really good one after decades of looking up.Seen many thousands of meteors in meteor showers and sporadic ones but nothing lasting more than 2 or 3 seconds
