The last remaining Golden Discs in Ireland - located in the Jervis Street Shopping Centre - is closing down next Sunday.

Check it out if you want to get DVDs slightly cheaper than Tower Records, but still nowhere near as cheap as they are if buy them second-hand in CeX or GameStop the way I do.

They would if they could find me. I'm camped out under a blanket in the storage room.

That's what the staff member said today. I'm not surprised, the prices have been dropping there the last few months.

Can't see that store been a profitable store say the rent is mental in the Jervis.

There's three I can think of in Cork: Blackpool Shopping Centre, Merchant's Quay and Mahon Point. All open:)

Well, this thread is a complete failure.

I wouldn't go so far as to say this thread is a complete failure. My intention was to highlight the fact that the last Golden Discs of which I was aware - living as I do in the centre of the capital - is closing.

When I first moved to Dublin years ago there were several - one in Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, one on Grafton Street, one on the corner of Liffey Street, to name but three - and now the last one in the city is closing in a week.

If anything, I'm glad I was mistaken and there are still Golden Discs around the country. But don't be surprised if this isn't a sign of things to come shortly.

It was an honest mistake (I thought they went out business ages ago :o) but I think we can lock this now.
