Joint ill flare up

    Had a calf with joint ill 3 weeks ago,bad with it.The young vet who always seems to be on when i look for one said norclav for 4 days should do:eek: I gave it for 9. Has flared up again ,bad.Will more norclav work now,will he be immune to it, lad told me he uses strong tyloson for joint ill .What ye think are my options

    noroclav is a very good drug, ring the vets and ask

    Joint ill starts as a naval infection. So check all your calves regularly. If any swollen navals hit with dexameth and norbritin straight away. You should have no more jount ill if you catch it esrly. Also make sure navals are dissinfected properly at birth. In your case I would hit him with enough norbritin to nearly kill him and same with dexamethasone

    Tis good stuff, but a proper pain in the ass to use over a long period. You'd want a shop selling needles and syringes.

    Try a good course of linco spectun, worked well for me anyway.

    Joint Ill seems to be in the spine, infection not breaking out. Have used 2 bottles of Noroclov, now trying Tylovet, calf starting to respond.

    The drugs are covered.
    What we do as well is. The naval will be swelled because the naval is rotten.
    So we turn the calf up on his end and bath the naval every day with savlon and warm water (not too hot though) and then when the naval falls out, pour pure savlon into the hole to wash it out.
