I was wondering e.g in the Sunday Independent it prints the details of probate, why are some probate details printed in the national papers. I know these are public and anybody can look at them but who decides to print the details of probate. Has it got to do with solicitor or where probate is applied for?

When a grant of Probate issues the Will is then no longer private.

So copies of the order can be bespoke.

I suppose it's of interest to some people?

I know it is of interest to some people, but I am interested how is it decided what wills are printed in the paper and which wills don't get printed? I don't want my fathers will printed.

It seems that the highest value wills are printed as well as the wills of well known people irrespective of value. many people transfer assets or put them in joint names before death and so the value of the estate is reduced and their will doesn't appear in the paper.

its public and the papers decide which wills are to be printed.
