    Hi all.

Just wondering who is responsible for removing the road signage on the Outter Ring Road between the Six Cross Roads Roundabout and Castle Road Roundabout, theres a huge Tripple posted sign with 3 signs on it for the Road Development which has now been completed, its like 6 years old now and well its a bit of an eye sore, I know its not a huge deal but surely it cant be taken down now, im sure theyd get money for the scrap metal alone and could use it by the sounds of things they need it. Is it WCC repsonsibility or the company that built the road?

IIRC, they have to be there for a period of years. Remember the situation cropped up in Tramore and this is what the council were told - something to do with EU funding for the projects and recognition being given or similar.

6 odd years now should be good enough eh!

Road authorities are not good at taking down old and irrelevant signage.

why take down the signs at all??? why not change what is actually on the sign??? why not use these signs for promoting Waterford etc??? that's exactly what happened in dungarvan on the main Waterford-cork route and you now have signs promoting dungarvan as a tourist/business/shopping destination!!!

:D yeah thats true but when your going for a stroll and your thinking away about how things could be better this is a small thing but the small things do add up, its just basic care and maintainance if a job is worth doing and all that. whats wrong with trying to have the place look its best? Its a pitty alot more locals didnt have so much pride in their community and having it look its best.

To the person who said why not use it as another sign post, thats a great idea. Is there a format for local people to suggest ideas and opinions to the council? other than your local councillor? If not there should be a forum for people to deliver ideas and opinions.(awaiting smart reply to that one):D

The one on the quay wont be replaced for a while, according to local journo Dermot Keyes who quoted the manager in saying its more cost effective to replace it with one for the 2014 celebrations.

Theres actually a few sign posts on the outter ring road that are completely out of date and pointless.
