Hi, I want to upgrade an old raleigh- late eighties - from downtube shifters to sti shifters on the handlebars. I have a 10 speed cassette on the back... would it possible for me to do this do you think? The bike has been fully restored and this is one last thing i would like to do. Any info from anyone that would have done this would be appreciated.

Yes, it would be a simple upgrade, as long as your running 7, 8,9, or 10 speed cassettes,

Check out retro bike forum - they have a thread somewhere with old bikes running new drivetrain. How are your derailleurs and crank/chain?

The crank and cassette are 105 and are new...the derailler is RX 100..which would be equivalent to todays 105...I will check that website. ..thanks for reply

np. you will also need adaptors (not sure what they are called) that fix to the down tube braze ons, and take teh cables from the sti shifters.
