Ok hopefully this is the right forum.

Putting up new Photo Frames on the wall. Have some pictures I can print out and put in them but looking for other pictures. Tried all the stores (Ikea would not wish it upon anyone) but selection was small. Was looking for prints of maybe Dublin landmarks or something abstract but colorful.

Anywhere in Dublin or online where I could get some pictures to put into frames?

    Thanks

I am sure there are loads more stock websites, where you can buy images.

For the price you're likely to pay on a stock site you might have more luck, and get a more personalised piece by offering it out to tender on here or adverts.ie for a photographer to shoot a commssioned shot or even series for you.

It all depends on what you're looking for. All of the more visually notable landmarks, Samuel Beckett Bridge, The Spire, Hapenny Bridge etc have been shot a million times by almost every photographer in the city so you'll certainly have no problem finding somebody. Its totally personal preference but if I didn't have the means to shoot it myself it would be a lot more appealing to me to have a personalised shot that wasn't just taken from a stock library. Also if puts you in the position of being able to ask that its an exclusive image just for yourself. So you know you'll have a one of a kind print. You can probably expect to pay a little more for that privilege but still its nice to have a one off customised piece. That would be my take on it anyway.

Yep by all means give it a try. You don't necessarily have be a professional to get good results. Its all the more personal if you've shot it yourself too. See how you get on with that first. Maybe post up the result here for some c+c. Hopefully you'll be happy with what you can do yourself, and if not then offer it out to somebody who can do it for you.

Either route will get you a nice personalised shot, with the added bonus that you know isn't hanging up in a few hundred other homes.

Come down to Greystones, Co. Wicklow any Sunday from now until end of August and have a look at the Photos and Paintings on display at the Harbour. All for sale and excellent value.

For paintings of Dublin my favourite artist at the moment is John (Jack) Kirwan. His cloudscapes are wonderful. Well worth getting a couple of prints (or originals if you can afford them).

what sort of money would you be willing to spend?
there's a place on dawson street which sells photographic prints, and i'm fairly sure you'd get dublin landmarks in there.

Could drop into my place in George's St. Arcade. If I haven't anything that suits your taste I can suggest a few more places within walking distance.

Gonna hijack this thread for a photo that I'm after for my room. It's a shot a don't have and won't get a chance to shoot for a while. I'm looking for a night time shot in the country with the moon in it, after that I'm open to what else is in it. Whether a stonewall is in the foreground or the moon is above snow capped mountains. But must be country or seaside with the moon in it.

I'm currently living in London so can't drop into anyone's shop etc and said I'd ask on here to support home industry. If anyone has anything that they think would suit then let me know or if anyone knows of photographers who specialise in night photography and have a website then I would much appreciate if they could point me in their direction.

It's going to be on of three shots I hang in a row so won't be printed to big, maybe 12 x 8 or slightly smaller.

    Thanks in advance

flickr, pix.ie, 500px, use irish/ireland in the search box and away you go ….. then contact the photographer and see how much it'll cost.

I could be wrong, but if i recall correctly, Homestore and More have a couple of Dublin-based photos for sale in their shops (at pretty competitive prices, as you'd expect from a retail giant).

They're already framed and only come in one size though, so not much versatility.

Lokofoto might be the way to go, Irish company too. Here's a quick 'moon' search on their site:
