brother has a collie x german shepard, useless dog, no amount of training would put manners on him and surprisingly small mature size

Tis allways the good ones that get done in!!:( - I have a collie spaniel X bitch that has brains to burn and is a tireless worker. She's 10 now but still does the business when needed. Was also a solid Gun dog in her youth:)

the parents have a sheepdog and also a pup. The pup (well she is 18months now) is out of a labX mother (neighbours dog) and our sheepdog is the father. The pup looks like her mother but is her fathers daughter, she is definatly a sheepdog underneath. Always wants to do what her dad does and wants to herd the cows with him.

what do ye use the dog for? herding, family dog, gaurd dog?
Of the parents two, both are working dogs, the sheepdog is great with people and loves kids while the pup is a bit wary of people she dosent know and is a great gaurd dog. She will bark at stragers until someone from the family will come out and bring her to heel (good thing to have for eldery people living in rural ireland). hre mother is a house dog so has no intrest in animals of being outside in the mud and rain.
the sheepdog is just too friendly but will get agitiated if he feels something is wrong, there have been lads around here lamping or strange cars and he'll get very protective. I suppose they just have a good sense for danger.

I personally think its not the dog its the owner and training.

2 left but they are staying, bitch was in heat last week but hoping one of the dogs didnt love her as I want to give her a break as she had a litter of pups very young. 1 of the pups that I have here is really looking the business and working well already with the older dogs, the other one just needs more of my attention.

Have 3 dogs, the parents sheepdog, the missus has a lab and we have one of their pups. She looks like her mum but is a sheepdog underneath. Brings in the cows with her dad and plonks down in front of the telly with her mum, she is also more of a guard dog.
